I built a vape comparison site. What do you think it needs?

Hoping this is the right place to post this. I could use some opinions of a new site I have been working on this year.

vapercity.com

This is my first attempt at building a price aggregate site. Basically, the main function of the site it to check prices everyday from some popular online vendors and display them to the visitor. I have been trying to identify the usability and ease-of-use factors to make searching for a sweet deal quick and easy.

A couple of questions I would like answered if you are so kind:

Would you use a site like this when you buy a device or gear?

Is the site nav easy to use? Could you find what you wanted quickly?

Does this site carry the products you are interested in?

Is your favorite vendor listed in the price comparison charts? If not, is your fav vendor cheaper or more expensive?

I look forward to hearing what ECF members have to say! I don't mind criticism, as long as it is helpful to the usability of the site.

Hi and welcome,

Do you have a list you could post of the sites you aggregate?

Thanks

Nice work, I bookmarked it. I will use it in the future for sure.

Easy to navigate, menu choices make sense, easy to use

A few of my regular online vendors were are not on your list. These guys are usually competitive, not always the cheapest, but they ship quick and have good customer service.

Eciggity | Premium E-Cig Hardware, E-Liquid & Accessories
Element Vape | Online Vape Shop - E-Cig Vaporizers & E-Liquids
Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | myvaporstore

Perfect! That's what I am looking for. I wish I could accurately add in shipping estimates to the listings because many people (like myself) wait too long to order and need their gear quickly.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will research the vendors you mentioned.

Just took a look at the site. As a former graphic designer may I suggest you simplify the GUI a bit? That’s one heck of a lot of scrolling you have to do. Maybe with some folders? Also what I wanted to price out was an innokin zenith which manages to fit in none of your catagories as it is a MTL tank using coil cartridges. I suspect the design of a really useful GUI is going to be the primary challenge of this venture. Ironically doing such things is a specialty of my sister, though not me. You need an internet usability specialist.

You need an internet usability specialist.
You got that right! I have found it difficult to connect all the products with categories due to the jargon and common names that mean different things to different people. Like, is a vape pen an e-juice vape, or a herbal vape? Box mod vs vape mod, tube mod vs vape pen, and so on.

Making things simple is not as simple as I assumed it would be...

Quick question. Did you use the search box or the menu for nav, or just the homepage image-links?

Another quick question. Does your sister vape? If so I would love a consult with her for a reasonable fee.

I just looked at the site scrolling down until it became clear I wasn’t going to find what I needed. My sister is currently a VP at US Bank. It is somewhat doubtful that her fee would be anywhere near reasonable but I can ask her. If nothing else she may have a referral.

It's been a while, but we have redesigned many parts of the site to flow better. At least we think they flow better. We have added a few hundred e-juices since the last post, as well as a few vendors.

The biggest addition to the site was to list the estimates shipping cost as well as the estimated delivery times for each product! We noticed that many of the lowest priced vendors had the longest delivery times. If saving $5-$10 is not worth waiting 4 weeks for delivery, you will be able to find a quicker option. Let me know what you think! As far as I know of, there is no other vape comparison site that compares delivery times.

We also added product filters to make sorting easier and more efficient.

I could really use some honest product (short) reviews/star ratings if anyone is interested in throwing in their 2 cents. Vendors can get reviews by emailing customers after purchase, but since we don't sell anything, we don't have that option. I have been thinking of a way to encourage reviews/ratings to help others find good products, but I don't want to get into the "paid reviews" problems.

Any ideas on how I can attract real reviews without paying per reviews? Contests, giveaways, raffles? If anyone is interested in talking more about that or has a suggestion or expertise in this field, I am up for a discussion.

Anyways, check out the site and prices and tell me if you find it helpful, your honest opinions are valuable.

Cool! I’d lost this thread. Now I can book mark it!

Nice site. And Easy to Navigate.

But I would throw one of those "I'm 18(21) or Older" Pop Outs when you Enter for Legal CYA.
