Well I did the original Puck mod tutorial, then the Puck II tutorial and now, I've done a whole new tutorial on my latest mod... The Puck "MVP". I've been using the Puck "MVP" for 2 weeks now and I love this thing.

What is it???? Modular, Variable Voltage, Multiple Power Source Puck eCig mod.

The Puck "MVP" has these new features but still uses NiMH batteries as my original Puck mod (or even Li-ion if you like).

Features:

  • Variable Voltage with Voltage Booster 3.0 to 6.0 Volts Output
  • Modular (Switch Out Battery Packs, even Li-ion if you like)
  • USB Pass-Through with a lot of USB Ports, not all though
  • Back lit LCD Display
  • Shows Battery Remaining Charge
  • Shows Atomizer Resistance
  • Shows Current Voltage Level Set
  • Easily Set Voltage Desired with Up/Down Push Buttons in 0.1 volt increments
  • See Resistance / Current Battery Charge with One Click
  • Click 5 Times for On/Off
  • Works with 4 NiMH batteries or Lithium Ion (Tutorial shows building with NiMHs as in the good ‘ole Puck Tradition)

And You can build it yourself with my complete tutorial.

I've put a lot of prototyping and testing in on this have arrived at a really fun and functional eCig box mod.

It's modular so you have a main control box that houses all of the electronics. You snap on battery boxes and plug in the USB plug and you are set to go. Want to change power sources? Unsnap that box and snap on another or plug in a USB cable and use the control box all by itself.

When using as USB you may have to dial down the voltage a bit on some USB ports but works nicely with all I've tested. The tutorial goes into more detail on this.

If you have the tools already, you can get away with building this for $29.00 or less. It's the most versatile Puck design I've come up with yet. Hope you all enjoy it.

hi barefootntx !
nice mod ! I have two of those boards and cant find any hook up instructions for it !! madvapes said it is a 4 botton board .
where did you find the info ? or did you just experiment with it ?cant figure where the switches go.
one switch is wired in already ... im just guessing that the long red and the long black wires go to the battery ( switch in one )
did you use tactile switches ? ...can you elaborate where they go ?? have funn ...rolf

successfully put the gripper board into the original puck 4xAAA (2 boxes) frame. I had to cut out the front for the screen and buttons to come through so I could close the case but some qwiksteel around the screen blocks out most of the circuit board from showing. Now I have 2800 mah in a pretty small ecig.

Thanks puck.

I'm using a 2.6 ohm coil in an RDA at 4 volts and its vaping great. I tried it at higher voltages and I think the chip is stepping it down, the blue light starts really bright then lowers in intensity at higher voltages.

Some of what I'm learning is refresher course in electronics, but quite a bit is new learning and I want to know about an internal charger also. I figure I might as well but a battery from an eGo with a fried pcb to use. Will integrating something like this (maybe different amps) be needed?

Edit - if that can be used in such a way, would I need a second one if I was hooking 2 batteries in parallel? I'm not thinking so.
