Straw Mod on the 510

Has anyone tried the straw mod on the 510 carts? I'm having some issues with mine.. I used a Capri-Sun straw that I crimped flat with some pliers to an inside middle thickness of approx. .5mm-1mm and have it sitting about 1.5mm down from the edge of the cart to avoid the atomizer. I cut the straw so that it doesn't sit flush on the bottom, and tried a few different variations on the top of the straw.. either way, it doesn't seem to be working right.. I even tried pulling some of the fill out, but that didn't make any differences, and I can't take any more fill out without having issues because of that too..

Any ideas?

I get varying results with mine - I use the 'straw' in the middle of a q-tip, and cut it where it comes about 2/3 of the way up the cartridge. Sometimes it works great, other times, I have to top off with 2 or 3 drops instead of the cart fully depleting.

Great results for the straw mod in my experience up to now.. I use a q-tip on the side of the cart, it is about 2mm below the end of the cart, no problems so far except for the increased liquid consumption...not only you can add more than 2 drops using it but it keeps the liquid flow while you vape so you need to use more liquid...but I`d say 10-15% more

I cut the coffee stirrer to just an unch below the top of the cart. I cut an angle on one end of the stirrer and put it all the way into the cart - resting against the side of the cart.

I also cut a very small portion of a spring (about 1/4" or a bit less) from a pen and insert that all the way into the cart.

Then I put the filler in and fill the cart with liquid.

This definitely drains those puppies dry before needing to top off.

Sorry Did not get it all... how do you use the spring and why is it needed. What does it help for ?

If you check out the original 'straw mod' thread, it shows a gap between the filling and the bottom of the cart - the spring is probably to ensure that gap.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, will have to try some of these out.. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know a cheap place to get unjuiced 510 carts? All I can seem to find is pre-filled carts...

I've noticed just enlarging the hole in the end of the cart seems to help me get larger hits. Its easy to do and doesn't make a mess of your cart. I've tried the straw trick, but i didn't get very good results.

Did you make sure to cut the straw in an angle at the bottom?

Yes, in fact i cut both ends at an angle. I didn't notice any real difference and tried it on 3 carts, so a few days later i took them out and haven't used them since :/ But enlarging the hole on the end has seemed to allow me to get larger hits with less effort, so i've been doing it on random carts when i get bored

Thanks, I was about to lose my mind over a 30ml bottle of Marlboro I just got from TW because it barely hit at all. The straw made all the difference and now it's choking me, in a good way.

Also, I used the straw that you remove from the bottle when making the Walgreens hand sanitizer 510 case, so woohoo for recycling!
