There are better ways to have made your point other than using terms like "junk" and "Volt scam" when referring to products that many veteran vapers here love and stand behind.

EDIT: They're also a well-respected forum supplier. Hop on over and check them out:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/smokeless-image/

If you really want to cut to the heart of the matter, ask SI yourself.

I believe he did it to elicit a quick response without regard for those he maligned IMO.

With any company, you could occasionally get a product that may arrive DOA or does not perform as it should. That is when you find out how great the customer service department of said company is. SI's customer service responds quickly to replace a product that is defective. I've only had one issue with a DOA battery. After I put in a help ticket, I was contacted within one hour informing me that a new replacement had been sent out and I did not have to return the defective product. That makes SI's customer service #1 in my book.

Even for beginners, I recommend a VV variable volt. Do most vapors go variable. or am I just assuming they do or do they even know?

Oddly, I usually suggest the opposite. A 650 or 1000 mah passthrough works just fine for noobs. Give a noob a VV device and most likely they're going to crank it to the max expecting awesome flavor and huge plumes of vapor, when in fact, it can do the exact opposite. Mismatching delivery devices, not understanding ohm resistance, and getting a burnt taste or possibly popping coils faster than normal. VV in the hands of a brand-new vaper isn't always a good thing.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, if a noob has friends more experienced with VV who can help explain it to them, then yes, it's a good idea. If they're completely new to the scene and have only "heard" about ecigs but have never tried them, or doesn't know anyone else who vapes, a fixed voltage passthrough would be sufficient to get them started. A Twist, Spinner, or other VV device would then be the next logical step.

There probably is some truth to the above, but also some coincidence. Just like with the beta vs VHS video tape format war from years past, both products were good products but one gained a larger foothold on the market and pushed the other out of business. The same might be true with 808 vs 510 thread e-cig products. Both are good products, but one has gained a larger foothold on the market than the other.

I had to smile when I read this :) as i just watched a film last night that mentioned this, the concensus was that if the porn industry had gone for the Beta format instead of VHS things would have turned out opposite!
Anyway I`ll get back to the sidelines and watch the party from there ;)

I'll also add my 2 cents here, because I've had a couple of problems with SI, and Imagine (the woman who runs the SI subforum here) helped me out as fast as she could. If you go into that forum, you'll also see that if people have a problem with a product or service, it's discussed openly. I had a problem with another vendor on here and my post in the subforum was deleted. That type of honest discussion is one of the most important things to me.

I've also got an X2 that I've been running hard since the beginning of September and it still works just as it did when I got it, so that's a plus.

seems to be a little progression for new vapors. They tend to start off with the ecig cigarrets, and depending upon the market area, migrate to the 808D, then the 510.

I do not like the 808D threads which IMO seems to be a proprietary market and limits cartomizer products. I do not believe they serve the best interest in the vapor world. 510 seems to be the standard so why does the 808 exist. I did get an adaptor, but still this seems to be a pain.

Even for beginners, I recommend a VV variable volt. Do most vapors go variable. or am I just assuming they do or do they even know?

I started with SI auto batteries and hated the thought of pushing a button each time to take a vape. Since then I've gradually adjusted to manuals that took some time to get use to but I don't think it would have worked for me at the very beginning. My main purpose was to stop smoking cigarettes but keep using nicotine in a similar but safer fashion.

After a few months, I did add variable voltage which I've greatly enjoyed. Also I can't wait to try SI's auto spinner which they will release in a month or two.

In the course of 7 months, I've added quite a few 510 devices with the larger selection of juice delivery systems for them. Right now I have quite the collection and am enjoying them all. A healthier hobby for sure. To make it even better, I've added an Evic to the mix. So I think a gradual progression may be needed for some new users, to find out what works best for them.

I too have dealt with SI quite recently and have no complaints whatsoever. My husband did a lot of research and decided this was one of the best vendors to buy from. (Just the fact that he even started using an e-cig is Huge! He ordered their top starter kit @ around $95.00 which included the passthrough.) I personally don't care for the passthrough, but to each his own. :)
I originally had the N-Joy e-cig, but recently purchased the Volt starter kit with the PCC. (About $65.00) The N-Joy does not have refillable carts, and the ones they sell are pretty expensive ($20 for five throw away carts!), plus I believe the quality of their atties has gone down aLot!
The delivery from SI was quick and everything worked right out of the box and the two 78s I order came already charged. So far, I am pretty impressed. I just placed an order for more carts cuz my starter kit only had five, and a bottle of juice.
I get good vapor and an easy draw from the pre-filed carts I got with my starter kit and am looking forward to a good vaping experince with SI. And the PCC is a Great idea for days when I know I will be out and about, ie: shopping, at a ballgame, etc.
I think you'll be happy if you go with SI.
Also, when my husband contacted them recently about an issue with one of the products, (I don't remember which one) they immediately sent a replacement and told him he didn't have to bother to return the original. That to me is Huge, cuz I Hate messing around with shipping things! So their customer service is good, too!

... is an auto battery 808 actually more common...? I

I would have to agree that there are definitely 2 different markets. In my area, I think it is more to ensure a repeat supplier and demand. I would have guessed 510 is more common.

For what I call more common and high end (manual), I would say 510 in more predominant. Manufacturers do not offer us a choice between beta or VHS version. VV, Provari, others as such is 510. Do they even make high end mods with 808D?

I have not seen a ViVi Nova with 808 threads, but I do not really look for 808 items.

I joined this form so I can respond to your post. I found the responses that you got very biased.

I know nothing of the company you are talking about, however reading the posts that responded it looks like everybody that works for that company responded.

808 is OLD technology.
I got similar ecig from a different vendor.
it is now sitting in my junkbox.
bad flavor, constantly refilling the cartridge, chapped lips because cartridge gets warm.
all together a very poor experience.

my advice get a 510 system.
it is a little larger but many of the parts can be used on an ego type system which you will eventually up grade to.
you can get a 510T system for about 20 to 30 dollars with 2 batteries 5 tanks and a charger. if you want to know where I get mine send me a private email.

best of luck
don't make the same initial mistake I did.

Sorry to read that your first product didn't turn out the way you expected, but since you admit you know nothing about Smokeless Image, don't just bad mouth them without having experience with them.

How dare you make an assumption that everyone who responded with positive results with Smokeless Image, or any positive results from any other company, are employees of those companies. Utter BS. You have no evidence to back up your claim.

We appreciate people adding to discussions here on this forum based on experience, not people bashing or trolling a product that they know nothing about.

You can get 808 cartos from many places there is nothing proprietary about them, and having used an 808 and a 510 cig look alike I would suggest an 808 to anyone without any doubt in my mind for the cig style they have always given me a better vape.

Also I personally do not think any newbie should start with vv/vw, for one thing it isn't needed, and for another there is enough to adjust to with vaping without throwing even more at someone.

Keep in mind vv/vw and mod uses are a very small percentage of the vapers out there, yes we love our toys but most start with and use cig look alikes or egos only, and many of us who do use mods prefer mechanical mods to vv/vw.

Thanks cabobigden

I too joined today. I am just trying to get my count up to +5 so I can explore, post in other section forum, and PM based on ECFs guideline/rules.

Since this is the new member forum section, I deem this response to be appropriate.

Back to the thread: I did talk to my local ecig store, and the said they purposefully use 808 with no intensions of carrying 510 products(or should I say 510 batteries). A brand new store just opened up here and they carry EGO (510).

Beta was better technology but the market did not support. I actually like 808D, but I will not use them....Like when you are in Rome, do as the romans do. VHS was the winner. New technology - I want a wireless laser cartomizer.

everyone that works for that store responded???!!! are you and the op doing other kinds of vaping today? they all tried to put it back on topic even after he was slanderous to a suberb vendor. we are all here to help people, not getting into pissing contests, but if you don't want to be of a help to the op, then silence is golden from you. thanks for respecting why we are here.

I use Ego batteries with cartos.
I am planning to get a 510 auto for portability. Did not like the Ego C-poor vapor, but the batteries are good and the set was only 50 bucks.
I got my hardware from E-smoky treats
Call cust. Service and talk to Rich.

And if that is working for you great, there are a lot of people in this forum that have been vaping for years now and love their 808's, I have one I use from time to time and want to get a couple more, and I have big battery mods that are 510, for me the 808's vaped better than the ego's I had just shorter battery life.

The main thing with vaping is finding what works for you, there is no one size fits all or everyone uses this or that, it is all about personal preference and finding what is best for your needs. So there is no reason to bash a company you don't even know just because your preferred set-up is something else.

Like I said, this is a new member forum section.

Sure everyone wants to help. Newbies are dangerous in their naive thinking. Me too.

We all can relate to ones own opinions and others' thoughts from around the county.

I can relate. And, I do believe it to be subjective.

So, here is my thoughts and I told this to the local store "He is doing us no favors selling 808s". I told him nicely, but I do understand his marketing strategy as such. By the way, this is my opinion which I would say to anyone. Agree to disagree.

My 808 would be collecting dust if not for an adaptor. It is just a battery. Don't buy it.

If you have a question about a product or how to use a product, this is the place to ask questions.

If you have a complaint about a product or received less than satisfactory service from that supplier (after you have 5 posts) post either in their forum if they have one or Negative Reviews. They are the only two sections of the forum where a supplier may answer a question or respond.
