I'd like to post this here as well as health/med--

Ok, didn't know that you can get UC from quitting smoking. I've just spent 4 days in the hospital and it is still is sucking!

W/o going into all this, I for now would like to know how much nic I need to use to help w/this. Seemed to show up when I dropped from 12mg to 4.

I'd like to not have to go too high........

Any stories on how nic has helped you w/UC would be appreciated also.

    TIA, Bob

No, they hadn't told me that- directly, I don't think they can- but it was easy to figure from the info I've gotten off of the net. There has been done tests where nic has shown to work greatly for some suffers. I mentioned it to my Digestive Disorder doctor and he said that when his patients tell him that they're doing better when they go back to smoking, he says go for it.

Fortunately, it's the nic and not the 4000 other ingredients in the smoke, so I can just vape for relief, not smoke. I really don't think I can return to smoking at this point.

I have bouts of colitis every now and again and quitting smoking didn't seem to bother me other than getting constipated. What all this means is I need more liquid and try and find way's to trigger my colon to do it's job. I stay away from laxatives because using them too much can shut your colon down and if that happens it isn't good. For me as long as I stay away from NSAIDS I have no problems with the colitis so in my case it seems to be caused by NSAIDS but being constipated during a bout of colitis will probably send you to the hospital.

That sucks to hear about your UC issues Bob. I have Chrone's the other IBD. Nicotine helps w/ UC, but not Chrone's which is good and bad I guess. I think if you stayed at 12mg and weren't having problems, you should stick with that. I would keep it closely monitored w/ you GI doc and let him know what's going on with the nicotine as part of you treating the UC.

It's weird to think something so great as quitting smoking may create other problems.

I had bloodwork done and I'm having thyroid issues. I went back to the symptoms of quitting and that's listed. It could be related- or not. I'll take it, I'm just happy not to be smoking.

I tend to think my mother's problem is related to a medication she's on more so than quitting smoking, but I will definitely call her doctor tomorrow and see what he thinks.

Fiber will be your best bet. Benifiber is a great thing and you can use it once a day with no problems. It doesn't even have a taste. I thought about pranking someone b/c you can spike someones drink with it, but I wouldn't do that.

I have Chron's Disease. And I didn't have it before I quit smoking. My doctor actually told me to start smoking again:confused: I didn't take his advice, not right away any way.

Any way for me vaping keeps it in check. As long as I vape 10mg + but if I go below 10mg, I'll get a flare up with in a few days. Which as you know is no fun

Also take a look at your diet, try to limit your sugar intake as well as your animal fat in take (Things like Bacon mess me up)

I also take fish oil pills, colloidal Silver, Vitamin D, and B12 daily. They also help me a lot.

    Hope that helps..

Sorry to hear that but hey hang in there. UC will get better all the crap that analogs will do to you will not get better. Now for me the very first thing i tried was the blu disposable. i asked the company and they told me it was 24mg. Honestly i could not even tell there was nic in it. When i bought my ego i started out with 30mg, granted thats high but better than smoking again. First you need to let your body get used to the change from analogs to vape, then worry about cutting back.
