A few pages back I was complaining about my Jac reading the resistance higher than it should. Someone posted a suggestion that this could be caused by a dodgy connection between the top piece of the mod and the body of the 510.

I had a brainwave this morning. The tank I was using showed up as 0.9 on various other mods but 1.15 on the Jac. It occurred to me that if the bottom of the tank was touching the metal top of the mod that might complete the -ive connection, but that won't happen because there's vinyl wrap between the mod and the tank. To test the theory I took a small screwdriver and used it to make a bridge between the bare metal top of the mod that is exposed between the pieces of vinyl and the bottom edge of the tank.

Guess what, it immediately read the resistance as 0.91. Obviously doesn't take much to complete the connection. I tried it with a couple of other tanks and it worked the same way on both.

I can't really vape with a screwdriver in my other hand. I'm going to try cutting away the wrap from under the tank and sticking a metal washer around the 510. Seems like that should work. There's plenty of room actually. Since the positive pin on the Jac is spring loaded it works with the tank screwed out far enough for a thin washer to fit in the gap. Might need to drill out a washer to fit so I'll report back when I'm done.

I'm happy again. My Jac should be back to primo condition.

Update. I put a washer between my tank and mod and it's reading the resistance perfectly.

Not quite there yet. I enlarged the hole in the washer. And the thinnest washer I had was a fraction too thick. I spent half an hour tediously grinding it with my fingertips on a diamond grit stone and got it just thin enough. During my first attempt to fix the problem I knocked the 510 down into the mod so now it's almost flush. There isn't enough 510 sticking out to hold the washer in position. Sometimes it ends up off center and slightly overlapping the edge of the 510, which raises it a touch and the tank won't screw down far enough for the positive to make contact. I have to poke the washer with a toothpick to get it centered while I tighten the tank down.

Still, it works now. Just a little fiddly. It's a nice feeling having a problem and figuring out a solution.

I might look for some extra thin washers. Maybe I could glue the washer onto the top of the mod. Would JB Weld work for that? It would have to be something that conducts electricity. If the washer was really thin I might be able to use solder. I'm not too familiar with soldering though.

I've never understood polaroid cameras either. But I loved them so, it was like magic in a box. Yeah, I was one of the kids captivated by the instantaneousness of polaroid. When I got one for Christmas it was like all my dreams came true! (Keep in mind, I was five). Betamax, not so much.

Polaroid was mystical back then. Fun cameras but the film cost would suck your wallet dry.

Now it's a good phone camera and a good inkjet printer. I've had multiple inkjets over the years and my Canon Pixma MX922 is the best yet at printing photos. Bought it on sale a year or two ago at Best Buy for $99 on a closeout. It's old tech now. I wonder what the newer ones can do.

Update. I put a washer between my tank and mod and it's reading the resistance perfectly.

My Hcigar VT75 Nano DNA mod started declaring "no atomizer" today. I made a tool out of a heavy paper clip and backed off the 510 connection a quarter turn and it's fine. Go figure. Usually tighter is better. A while back it felt a little loose and I tightened it gently. That must have put a strain on the spring loaded 510 and eventually caused it not to return and touch the center atty connection.

Well this interesting, JVB on a Chinese site, says it’s 22mm and shows picture as a sandstorm color

Buy Jac Vapour Series-B DNA 75W Silver TC VW Variable Wattage Box Mod

ummm? The width of the mod is likely 22mm but the lip/base for the atty is a silly mm wider.

Ummm.....

The authentic Jac Vapour Series-B Box Mod is a small sized DNA Mod which incorporates DNA75 chip and is powered by single 18650 battery (NOT INCLUDED). The output power is variable from 1 to 75 Watts. It adopts a 0.91inch OLED screen, spring-loaded positive connector and electroplated magnetic cover. The atomizer resistance range is from 0.15 to 0.25ohm.

The display is strangely reminiscent of my Eleaf iStick TC 40W. Hmmmm ...

ETA: on second look it's also the same format as my Hcigar VT75 DNA mod, but the OLED display in the Hcigar is much better resolved (like the one above). It must be a standard configuration used by lots of manufacturers.

Update:

23mm sandstorm order is on the way back to UK at the same time JV sent me the 25mm replacement so hopefully I am going to have my new toys in 2 weeks. I was unable to get the 20% off (I got 5% off) BUT JV customer service being great to me so far, excellent communication.

Also I asked about the single battery charger and what happen is this charger is out of stock right now, but because I got 2 sandstorm (plus one free) they were kind enough to send me the double battery charger.

My package is on it's way to USPS to be handed off to them. Hopefully I'll have mine by next weekend. Still unsure about a tank. I stopped by a local shop and the guy there had a Merlin Mini in black he gave me...Said there was very little interest in rebuildables of any kind from the patrons. Said he had a few boxes of "old" stock he would go through and send me pics of what he finds.

The Merlin Mini is "ok" at best - I'm not sure anything will ever dethrone my Spheroid v4 or Prometey but I did want a few nice MTL tanks for the Jac.
