Installing Cotton in you Kanger T3s

Maybe my juice was to thick? I have to use 100% VG, have asthma so I totally can't breathe at all if I use PG...have a few bottles of 20%PG/80% VG from M&P's that's not as thick also. On second thought it works fine with cotton balls, so cheesecloth should work also with my juice. I did dry burn it for a second or two without any juice on it at all actually that time, so it probably burnt the cheesecloth to beyond saving. I think I'll try it with cheesecloth again after the couple that I have with cotton wear down...which has been like over a week already so I should probably do that. I really would rather use cheesecloth since it is about 100000000% times easier to get cheesecloth through the coils than it is cotton.

I also wonder if you could rewick a T2 with the cheesecloth. I was thinking about trying with cotton, but I would think it would be not flexible enough and wouldn't work to well with it being really long. Cheesecloth can hang down and move better though, so it probably can be done...I think I might try that also and let everyone know how it goes.




How do you know when to change the cotton? I have been using a pair of heads with cotton in it for probably a week and a half now...still works, looks a little dark now though on the parts I can see. It also turns the juice quite dark after vaping a whole tank. I wash them after each use though, I haven't looked inside to see how it looks around the coil...I am assuming it is going to be real dark and burnt looking. Don't know when to change it though.

That's a good question....I have also noticed that it doesn't take too long for the cotton to darken up from the coils gunking up etc....Which in turn like you said starts changing the color of the liquid darker etc...Even though the taste isn't terrible like I said I still replace the cotton and dryburn and clean the coil every 2 tanks or so (I am a light vaper so I just use the mini T3's most of the time) just to keep it fresher etc... If you vape a lot changing this often might be a pain in the .... It really is just a personal preference as to how long to go before you clean etc....I also haven't tried wrapping wire etc...but I have some T3 heads I have used for months that just keep on doing great with the original coils. All I do is when they start really darkening up the liquid I remove the old wicks dry burn and clean the coil real good and replace the cotton. I have been using the same coils for months and months and they continue to taste and perform like new after a cleaning and wick replacement etc....

As a side note...

It has been confirmed, at least via a review on that page under Product Reviews, that the AGA Series Positive Post Insulators will work with the Kanger T3.

I change my wicks about once a week, buy I've gone two weeks before. Usually after a week I start noticing some leaking/gurgling and that's when I know to change the wick.

So i just gave this a shot today.. It is certainly hitting nicely with decent vapor but can some of you guys estimate about how long of a time frame before the flavor comes through? Maybe im just impatient but i vaped it pretty hard for a bit now and am not really getting much flavor over all.. *shrug* guess ill keep going until it either burns or starts tasting right

Mine have taken at most 20 hits to get full flavor, on a fresh wick with a strong flavor it comes through almost immediately most of the time. Did you wet the wick with a few drops before putting the center tube back on and filling/assembling? I find that manually saturating it before assembly is a good way to check the coil and make sure it's wicked all the way through.

Lots of great info here. I use KPT and have done re-wick only using cheesecloth threads and cotton yarn-peaches and creme. Had some issues with burnt taste yesterday with the yarn, but I think I had too many yarn threads in the coil. May try the make-up pads next.

Made new coil and set up Peaches and Cream yarn wick on mine, low vapor production...
Took it apart and pulled out old cotton and dry burned coil to clean it up, put two Butcher's cotton string through coil
with one string on top, Holy Smokes! Vapes like a champ and the flavor is great!
So it seems I had the wrong size wick in it and was choking off the juice.

I typically use it on a Joye Ego or Ego Twist. Also have an Evic but I leave it at home. 32 AWG Kanthal A-1 with 4/5 wrap usually yields between 1.7-2.0 ohms. Perfect for an ego .

what are you wrapping it around to get the 2.o ohms?

i just re-wicked a T3 with cotton. i also added a flavor wick.
