As per the title 'whats worse than spam'
The simple answer is 'off topic chit chat'
Most Threads are ruined by off topic chit chat that has to be waded through to get to the relevant posts
The lounge is supposedly the place for chat and supposedly correctly posted threads will be moved there if they turn into off topic chit chat
But in reality the Moderators are not moving most threads that turn into chat and as a result the purpose of the lounge and moving threads is not having the effect it was designed to have
A zero tolerance on off topic chat and moving of threads or deleting the chat would eventually have the desired effect, even if this means in the short term informative threads are sent there to die
At least then those chatting don't get post credits and the main forum area's remain for information
This is not a rant just an observation that would improve the forum for the majority
