So trying to build a ss wick in my Igo-l for use on my backup Vamo.

I tried 4 wraps.... ohms to low

Pretty sure I have 11 wraps on there now and the Vamo still reads ohms to low.

Its 500 mesh ss, using 28 gauge Kanthall that has all been well burnt with a high temp torch.

What am I doing wrong, tired of wasting wire and about to just go back to 4/5 wraps on silica which was working just fine....

Two things that will save you a lot of time & trouble:

1. Please get a multimeter - you're just guessing if you don't have one. Guessing + lithium ion cells = tears at bedtime.

2. Use a 510-to-510 solid adapter on your chosen device and always leave it in place. When you change heads, they screw into the adapter not the APV connector. You will have about 100 times less issues with the connector.

Using an adapter may wreck the visuals with some heads, but it's your choice.

The 510 thread was the wrong choice for the market to move to as its 'winner' from all the contenders, it should have been the 801 thread system as that is miles better. Anyways...
