Keeping Your Center Post Shiny Clean

I have had experiences with my menu not reading resistance correctly and my vape feeling a bit weak at times due to dirty connections. I used the ball point pen and alcohol dipped q tip to clean the positive electrical contact inside and it worked well. However, the brass post in the 510 connection didn't clean up as well. I scraped it with a small screwdriver the first time but didn't really like the results. Now what I do is tear off a small piece of melamine foam aka Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and use it dry (no need to wet it) and rub around on the pin with the pen cap (the part that clips to a shirt. BAM!!! Shiny. This stuff works good on springs and battery ends,charger contacts, etc.

About how long were you using the Provari before you cleaned the spring and inner contact? Just wondering if it something done frequently or once in a while. Magic erasers are magic!

They sell a fiberglass tipped pen at radio shack that is just for cleaning oxidized connections and it will make that post look like new in 3 seconds. My Provari post was so bad that my Provari would not fire every time I hit it and I used this pen to clean it and WOW what a difference it made. Its also plenty long enough to reach the battery post inside. Hope this helps. It was nearly 8 bux but it will last forever and blows Q tips outta the water.

I never thought about the magic eraser! That's a great idea too. Just use a little piece of it stuffed into the end of an empty ink pen.

I use a Cratex Rod on the Center Pin every 3 weeks or so.

Brings back that Factory New look in a few seconds.

I might be over-killing, but I clean ours once a week. Just some 99% alcohol, long wooden q-tips, and occasional Noalox on the threads (when needed). All available relatively cheap on Amazon.

I'm going to have to do this soon for the first time, flooded it pretty bad yesterday I've only had mine for a few weeks, it's not shiny in there anymore.

Reinventing the wheel...

A pencil with an eraser on the end. I prefer mechanical pencils with the white erasers. Sorry if this is Old tech.. they use to teach this stuff to kids in high-school electronic shops back in the 70's.....

There was another thread that I posted about using a gutted bic pen (remove the tip and ink) and putting a q-tip in the end, but another member suggested the link above. The Radio shack pen works great!

a toothpick or q-tip cotton stem broken off in a dremel tool with some simichrome polish will make the center pin shine like a diamond in a goats ... in about 2.3 seconds, and wont remove any significant amount of metal in the process
