And that is why there will never be this merger of the two forums. ECF has way too much ridiculous censorship. Speech is much more free on the "other" forum. They have a tag you can put on your user name, "ECF Refugee".

You're not missing anything. People over there are as rude as their language. I don't consider dropping f-bombs free speech. I consider it crude and unnecessary.
That's not the norm over there though. Sure there are some who occasionally swear but I don't see that very often.

I'm not referring to just words that are allowed. I'm speaking of discussions of certain vaping and DIY subjects that are allowed, which I can't even describe here without getting a three day ban.i wouldn't call that speech exactly
Editing to add: Another form of censorship that galled me was back around 2013 or 14, can't quite remember what year, when the owner of JuicyVapor (later name changed to Nixteria) was accused of molesting his adolescent step daughter. ECF immediately tried, convicted and hung him in this forum by banning any mention of his company name by blotting it out with ********* when it was written in a post. So I followed the trial. Either the case was dismissed or he was found innocent (again, it's been a few years, so I don't remember which). He'd been accused of getting in her bed and showing her porn on his phone while doing things to himself in front of her. The case was dismissed, or he was found innocent, due to absolute lack of evidence, zero evidence of any history of porn on his phone, zero DNA evidence in the child's bed, mattress, carpet, of him ever having been there.
It also bugs me that when someone is banned here, their user profile is made to look like they were immature and got mad and left, with "someone on the internet was MEAN". They might not be doing that now. Haven't seen anybody "disappeared" lately.
The two forums are different, and vive la difference. My reason for participating is mainly to inspire newbies and lurkers, which was how I came to both sites when I first took up vaping 10+ years ago. ECF makes it easier to find new member posts than VU. Sometimes I log in to look for info. Sharing fun and humor, and getting to know people enough to consider them friends, are nice benefits of the process.

VU is a good and well run forum. Same as here. Different rules. A few over there, ex-ECF'ers mostly, do whine about ECF from time-to-time, but not often. There are as many nice folks there as there are here. One or more administrators are always online. People police themselves, but mostly that's not needed. I would have no reservations recommending VU to anyone. Like every single forum out there, it's what the members themselves make of it. Same as ECF in that regard.
The main difference I noticed is there are about 3 times as many members logged on over there than here at any given time

I just compared both forums.
On VU there are currently 17 members logged in and 186 guests.
Currently there are 15 members logged in and 289 guests here.
The key is to look at new posts for both forums. VU does not see as many posts related to vaping as we do here. Both sites see roughly about the same numbers of new members signing up daily.
VU saw 5 new members signup on the 23rd and 7 on the 22nd.
ECF saw 5 new members signup on the 23rd and 5 on the 22nd.
Just a couple of those folks created 1 or 2 posts on each respective site.
