I can't taste my aroma anymore, how can I increase it to taste it again?

Scenario

I made an e-liquid in a 60 ml bottle with 8% of flavor and 6mg/ml nicotine. I've used up half of it and can't taste the flavor anymore. I'd like to increase the flavor concentration so I can continue to enjoy my e-liquid. How can I do this?

Explanation

First, try tasting another e-liquid! Just to see if you don't have a case of vaper’s tongue, which can happen from time to time. It's not serious, but in general, it's advisable to reduce vaping for a while, or try a flavorless e-liquid. Some say using a menthol additive helps (without another flavoring).

Vaper’s tongue is an expression used to describe the fact of not being able to taste vape juice. Most vapers are said to experience this from time to time. This symptom usually lasts from 1 to 3 days, but in the worst case, it can last up to two weeks!

If you manage to taste another flavor, then you may have become too accustomed to yours. It’s a good opportunity to try new flavors, or as we'll see here, you can increase the flavor concentration.

We'll start with a small increase in aroma to begin with. You can repeat this process if this is not enough. If you by any chance increase too much and it’s too strong, you can always dilute it following my previous article : I've added too much flavor concentrate, how can I fix it? .

So we have :
- A 60ml bottle
- A 20mg/ml nicotine booster
- 30ml e-liquid since half of the bottle was vaped
- 30ml * 0,08 = 2,4 ml aroma
- 30ml * 6mg/ml = 180mg nicotine
- 180mg / 20mg/ml = 9ml nicotine booster
- 30ml - 2.4ml aroma - 9ml nicotine booster = 18.6 ml base

Let's start with our aroma concentration

Then we want to add an unknown amount of flavoring to reach 10% final flavoring concentration.

So we've got our answer, but don't forget that adding flavor concentrate to the e-liquid will dilute the nicotine concentration.

If we try to do as in the previous article, where we had to add some base to dilute the flavor concentration.
We added nicotine booster so that the base we’ll add is already at the right nicotine concentration.
However, here, we're adding flavor and if we try to raise the nicotine concentration (and replace some of the flavor with nicotine booster),
we'll lower the flavor concentration.

So we're going to see how much the nicotine concentration is diluted if we add the 0.67 ml of flavor,
to see if it's a significant decrease or if it's not serious, so we can stop worrying.

We have 30 ml base e-liquid + 0.67 ml flavoring.

As we calculated at the beginning, we have 180mg of nicotine currently and 0mg of nicotine in the flavoring we're adding.

Nicotine concentration = 180 mg / 30.67 ml = 5.87mg/ml

As a result, we've increased the flavor concentration from 8% to 10%, and we've lost nicotine concentration from 6mg/ml to 5.87mg/ml. That's a loss of 0.13mg/ml, which isn't significant.

On the other hand, if we had tried to do a bigger increase of the flavor concentration, the nicotine dilution would have been even more significant.

Don't worry, if you want to increase your flavour concentration while maintaining your nicotine concentration, you can do so now via our free-to-use calculator on Eliquid.diy!
