Hey Vapeheads!

So, the reason for this post is, i have read alot of reviews about the Zephyrus RTA, and most of them claims this tank leaks. I have been using my Kangertech Subox Mini for almost a year and i lived it but at some point my innovation gets too much for the Kbox to handle. So i figured getting a new tank. Out of many i was caught by the Zephyrus RTA mainly because it has a 4 3mm air holes and the adjustable airflow at the base of the tank is really wide. Not only that, it has 4 posts! 4! On my subtank mini i maxed it out with dual parallel tied single spaced coils. now in this big boy i bet i could do quads!!! Which i did!!! Lol. So from the looks of the Zephyrus's RTA deck, it does looks as if leakages might happen, because of the huge quad airholes. Buy i wanna experiment and see what happens. Here's the result,

image_zpso6ivdgg6.jpg

A Quad Parallel Coil build. But..... The ohms are too low, clocked out at 0.08ohms... So i redone a single spaced coil instead with a 28g Nichrome. 8wraps, 2.00mm. Any bigger you cant wick the thing, or the coils would touch the walls. Clocked out at 0.19ohms. Wicking is a little tricky, i forgot to take pics on how to wick it. Sorry. I stuffed the cotton in small puffies surrounding the coils but not clogging the quad wicking holes. No leakages. It is a cloud machine! Flavor is not great IMO but the clouds are super dense and after a few puffs, i cant find my gf in the room. Sets up about 65watts, 3.5v, about 18A. My dual batts pumps out 40A since their a dual 20A. But i still change batteries every 4hours usage. Always stay safe.

To me, i am lovin my Zephyrus RTA. No leakages whatsoever. Draws like your breathing. A little warm draws because ur hitting amps. If your a newbie then dont do this lol. You can still get a zephyrus and do a dual coil build and its possible to go around .3ohms and still be happy!

Glad you like yours. I found it pretty tricky to get the wicking right. Watched a bunch of youtube videos for tips & suggestions, but could never get rid of the dry hits.

Also, it's hard to explain, but this tank had a bit of an off flavour. Pretty sure it is the machine oil (sort of sour, metallic taste). Couldn't get of the off taste. Washed with hot soapy water a few times, soaked in vodka. Still tastes funky with the rebuilt coils and the RBA base.

I'm using the Uwell Crown now and that thing is really good. Heaps of vapour & flavour and the RBA is easy to build & wick. Only 2 posts though. And can leak when top-filling.

After about almost 2 days having this atty, i noticed when i use my quad setup it leaks a little. Not too much till u get messy sticky hands. But just enough when u torch the inside of the adjustable airflow little tiny dots of juices. When i use dual setups no leakages at all. I dont have the metallic taste tho. Maybe mine is a clone? But i dunno, coz i checked the anti-counterfeit thingy and says mine checks out so i dont know lol.

I am still relatively new to all this. Been vaping for almost 2 years. And i still am learning new stuffs fron here. ECF is the only place IMO that actually makes sense and questions are answered properly.

I have heard many things about the Uwell, hows yours? What mod u using?

Of all the RTA's that i use the Zephyrus is the most difficult to wick right, but it works fine when wicked correctly.

i heard same things too but i took a few tricks of here that less cotton is more. But too "less" equals to a leak. So i had to play with the id of coils because the smaller the id the thinner ur wick, so thin wicks in zephs can cause leakages because the wick grooves are huge. So i went with 2.5-3.00 ids. So it worked, made the wick to be fluffy and short enough to cover the grooves. Wet the wicks to see if in wet condition can it clog the groove nicely. If i dont get this right i wont start the thing up.

But hey, i am a weird crazy dude. I must admit when i wanted this tank 4 salesmen at the vape store told me NOT to get it lol. It leaks, difficult to wick etc. i want what i want, u dont tell me what to buy human!

I guess, everyone on ECF has their signitures... Some loves atlantis, goblins, goliaths, subtanks, kayfuns.. Etc. i think u have accidentally made me interested with your atty now.. Been looking at it.. Maybe i should get one...

That's the problem, you have to get the wicks absolutely perfect, not too much and not too little but just right. I use a 2.5mm id coil but still trim the wick. The real problem, which is so impractical is how the fundamental structure of the Zephyrus means if your wicking isn't absolutely perfect you're kind of screwed because you can't take out the deck with juice in the tank. I've tried sucking the juice back out with the bottle it came from. I'll just squeeze the bottle first, insert the tip into the tank, then let the bottle suck it out. The whole rigmarole is really annoying. Even if the wicking is perfect, if i let the empty tank sit for a day or two, while i use other tanks and flavours, and then go back to it, it will leak after it's filled !. I find it easier to just re-wick it each time i re-fill it, and more wick works best rather than less, as i said "you have to get the wicks absolutely perfect".

The Billow V2 on the other hand is a pleasure to use in complete contrast to the Zephyrus, but i'll still re-wick everytime i re-fill. It seems to me that any juice, even trace, left in the wick after the tank is empty and left for a day or two, tends to thicken up and doesn't allow a new tank full of juice to flow properly, so it can potentially leak because of that.

The Goliath is another RTA that works really well, just like the Billow V2 it is a pleasure to use. One difference is it has no barrel that fits to the deck like the others. I'm not so keen on the barrel design. In An RTA with a barrel screwed to the deck, when the barrel needs to be screwed on it makes you wonder whether it's messing with the wicks as you screw it down, it doesn't allow much room for the wicks at all. The Goliath's deck just screws on the tank and leaves plenty of room for the wicks. I love using the Goliath, it has a much smaller tank than the Zeph and the Billow V2 though.

You'll like the Goliath, i haven't used a Goliath V2 but have heard it's an improvement on the first one. Everyone says the tank is too small on the first one, but that's the only complaint i've heard. It just seems to guzzle the juice like there's no tomorrow, but that's just an illusion !.

"Illusion" haha
Alright, gonna go shoppin end of month gonna go get me a looksy on them goliaths.. But since i gots me the zeph maybe i'll go with the V2 instead, a little bigger, see what becomes of it in my evil hands

It's awesome. I've also got the Atlantis V1, Subtank Mini with V1 & V2 RBA, Zephyrus & Lemo 2 and the Crown out performs them all. It's also the easiest RBA I've used to date. Building & wicking are simple, and there's no 'trick' to it, just cut the wicks back to a good length and slide the chamber back on (it's not a threaded chamber, which is a pro for sure). My only beef us that it can leak a little when top filling (even with the AFC closed off). But bottom filling is almost just as easy. The pre-built coils are a bit more expensive thank other brands, but that's irrelevant if you're using the RBA deck. Using the MVP3 Pro.
