i keep hearing talks at work that they are going to ban smoking completely and that you will NOT be allowed smoke at all during your 8 sometimes 12 hour shift. im sure they would tell me that im not allowed to vape anymore, dont even think i would bother asking. right now i vape outdoors with people that go out for their cigarette breaks. well let me tell you that if they ban smoking i will vape indoors in dark corners. I'm getting sick and tired of all of these smoking bans. i can understand why they dont want people smoking inside, ok no problem. but to tell people they cannot go outside and have a cigarette on their break is ridiculous. people arent going to give a damn about their jobs if they are suffering from nicotine withdrawal. productivity will suffer and so be it, they will pay the price if they put a full ban into effect. they will have a plant full of ...... off people. i think the erosion of our freedoms needs to stop. the big wigs are getting to have way too much power in this country. while i no longer smoke at work(i vape) i believe that people are doing no one else harm by smoking outdoors in the company smoke shack. if they were to tell me that i cannot consume a vaporizer that emits mostly water vapor, that is just their way of saying that im just a peon and am completely powerless. the modern workforce is nothing but a bunch of slaves

I agree with you ad356 it is scary the way the corporations are getting to powerful and removing all of our rights. They have the smokers where I work hide behind a dumpster in the back parking lot. Can you believe that a dumpster When I vape I go far away from the door and out in the parking lot and I have managers coming out stating I have to go behind the dumpster with the smokers. I think it is just demeaning and a way to take away peoples pride and keep them in slave status. Something has got to give or the people will turn. Just my two cents.

I've been dealing with this for over a year now. We have to walk out to the street (get off the property) to smoke or vape or chew. They won't even allow us to sit in our cars. Since the walk takes so long I end up smoking an analog since it's quicker. (It takes me twice as long to feel satified with my PV.)

They are pushing nicotine replacement though. Chantix, patches, gum ... I've tried them all and was not sucessfull. It's just made me hate work now.

hell i think people need to turn. too much greed and too much power. im all for anarchy. sick and tired of greedy ignorant corporations and government stripping us of any rights. smoking near a dumpster is bad enough, now imagine if they told you were NOT allowed to smoke at all. so much for rights. im sick and tired of these people. they also tell us what we can and cannot put into our bodies. in order for me to get employment i had to submit myself to a urinalysis, an invasive process. next thing you know they will add nicotine to the list of things checked for in a urine sample and refuse to hire you if your piss is "dirty" with nicotine. but its perfectly ok for people to come to work with a hangover. if i show up to work sober its none of their business what i do when im off of work. if i want to vape/smoke when on break as long as im not smoking in the building and in a designated area i should be able to do that as well. i wish i could win a huge lump sum of money so didnt have to be at their mercy. to be honest i already have vaped inside the building in areas where i was alone, but i havent done it to often. i know i can get away with it if im careful, i shouldnt have to do that. i shouldnt even have to hide it or go outside. i should be able to sit in the cafeteria during lunch and vape away. but that will never happen.

Well you do have a choice whether to work there or not.

Perhaps the company wants to get rid of people who lose productivity because they can't smoke.

Nope. Sad though it is, most people don't have too much choice. If you're already tied to being in a certain place (own property you couldn't sell in this climate, for example) then you're choosing from a relatively small pool of jobs, many of which aren't hiring, or aren't hiring you, your skill set, or your availability.

And so you wind up stuck in a job you can't really afford to choose to leave.

So they can **** with you, because they know that most folks will suck it up and tolerate most anything before they give up the ability to feed and clothe their kids.

It's sad, and it's bad.

speaks the truth. probably 1/3 of the people that work on my shift smoke. so you want to tell those people "go find another job" if you dont like it. they dont care about the loss of productivity among 1/3 of their workforce, f'em. if they go ahead with such a ban i HOPE they loose ALLOT of production, i wouldnt feel badly about it 1 bit. what would the company do if said people had the ability to leave?? problem is there are no other jobs to go to so as you said myself and my coworkers have to deal with getting .... on to keep a job and barely pay a mortgage and bills. talk about being made into "payed slaves" which is all the modern workforce is. a meager living and a bunch of unfair workplace practices and you just have to put up with it. i dont like what this country has become.

management can rest assured that people will attempt to smoke inside the plant if such a ban is put into place. i will vape in dark corners and places where no one can see me. vaping is wonderfully easy to hide. it dissipates almost instantly, doesnt require any fire or combustion, and doesn't smell like a cigarette. vaping has SOME odor, but its no one would ever suspect it as vaping or smoking. oh, and i dont believe it will set off fire alarms either.
