btw, I see the Silverplay on the vapordna website for $15.

I think I see what you are trying to do. Like the trick of putting 2 nuts on an auto exhaust stud to lock them together, then use them to back out the stud, right?

So, if you just need to hold the 510 from rotating while you twist the airflow thingy, then try this.

Get a small piece of rubber tubing, like a vacuum line from any autoparts store. Or even wrap the threads with electrical tape, I'd guess 5 or 8 wraps. Then instead of pliers, use the chuck in your electric drill. Better than a vice, since it'd be gripping the cylinder at 3 points, rather than 2, which would deform it. (You are just using the drill chuck to hold it, of course! Don't turn the drill on!!)

And I'd try this on an old atty in your "junk drawer". Just to see how tight you can grab it, then unwrap it and see if it still threads onto a mod.

Alternately, you might have a tap handle or something else that can "grab" the 510. Maybe even with 4 points of contact.

Good luck! (and if you completely ruin it, a new one is $15, just saying)

oh I see. If that's what @vaper1960 is trying to do, I've done that before. No automotive hose/tube needed. Any rubber tube will do. I have used the rubber tube on a pen with one of those rubber grips. They usually slide right off. But any rubbery tubing that will prevent you from damaging the 510 threads will do, as long as it at least maybe 2 or 3 mm thick.

I need some 510 nuts (long story but it would really help to have them) Local hardware stores have "5-08" but not 510 (I assume they have finer threads) Where can I find these?
diy stand? That's what I was thinking about doing, I have some offcuts of mahogany in the house and few small cans of different stains, it could make a nice little project. I can't seem to find anything either, all the m7 nuts I found online have 1mm threading. I found a mech mod battery connector from china but around equivalent of 5$ each with shipping... so yeah- nope!

@PeterKay if you're looking to make a stand with threads for your atties and you want metal threads on the stand, you can either buy some cheap 510 connectors or atty stands and incorporate those into your stand instead of looking for nuts. Of course, nuts would be cheaper, but I can't seem to find M7X0.5 ("510") nuts and I bet they are going to be expensive if you do find them.

I have many of these atty stands. They were designed to fit 22mm atties inside the rim, but wider atties will still screw in and sit on top of the rim. The OD of the rim is 25mm. They're 84 cents each if you buy the 7-pack of multiple colors or about $1.25 each if you want to buy them separately in the colors you prefer.

These are the cheapest 5-pack of 510s I know of ($1.50 each or cheaper if you buy three 5-packs or more). These are 22mm.

They also have this 5-pack of 510s that have little posts on the bottom of the "landing pad" for sinking into wood when you tighten the nut (used for better stability on a wooden mod). But they're a little more expensive at $1.79 each. These are 19mm.

Hey thanks! You probably saved me from hours of fruitless searching for m7 0.5 nuts. Which already was driving me nuts! :D Unfortunately I cannot use the links and the supplier you posted (based in UK) but they certainly helped me to look for something different- connectors and stands. Look what I found! Cheap and perfect for what I had in mind :) :)

Nice find!

But out of curiosity, why can't you use the FT links or buy from Fasttech?
You're right, I just checked. I looked up the delivery info at first and it said free shipping for orders above 20$ USPS, so I assumed it only applied to US, but now I had a look into FAQ's, and found info about free international shipping :)

FT has been changing thins recently due to shipping problems due to the pandemic. Not sure they actually have free shipping to the UK. But they ship all over the world. Lots of UK customers on the Fasttech forum.

I was wondering the same  and thanks for the links as I was looking for stands and the ones in your link looks way better than others I have seen :)

Yes, I just need to hold the base 510 so I can adjust the airflow (it's very hard to turn) I'll try the rubber trick (I'm an auto mechanic and have done that before)
The darn Silverplay likes to leak when I fill it unless the airflow is closed all the way (but then I can't open it back up to use it)

In cases like that I use 510 heat sinks. $5.53 (Free Shipping) 510 Heat Dissipation Heat Sink for Atomizers (5-Pack) (22mm, SS(air cuts), Silver, 5-Pack) at m.FastTech.com they are cheap and you can leave them on the tank instead of taking them off and on constantly. If need be you can grind down the fins.
