So I finally caved after all the hype of the new ceramic coils by Vaperesso and bought the kit. I kinda like the mod, but it has a few flaws which I won't get into now. My issue is the awful taste I'm getting. The tank comes preloaded with a .9 kanthal coil, however, I'm really into to TC and replaced that one with the .2 Ni200 coil. I loaded it with some Alloy Blends Blonde juice. I put the mod on TC mode and set the temp at 420 degrees after letting the tank sit for a good 30 minutes I took a draw....OMG :cry::cry::cry: What an awful taste. The only way I can describe it is by saying that it tasted like what I would imagine heated ceramic must taste like. I could barely taste the juice at all because of the overwhelming taste of "ceramic". I adjusted the temperature up and down, from 390 to 550, and still this awful taste.

First of all I noticed that you cannot adjust the wattage/joules in the TC mode on the mod itself. Yes I locked the resistance, which took a few minutes to figure out. Over the course of three days I've tried the tank many times and still get the same god awful taste, however, the taste of the juice is becoming a bit more prevalent, but still the ceramic taste remains. So I thought it might make a difference trying the tank on a different mod where I could adjust the wattage/joules. I put the tank on my IPV 4s, locked the resistance, set the joules at 35 and the temp at 420. Still getting the ceramic taste and now the juice flavor is totally muted. It produces a huge amount of vapor, however, it is tasteless. I adjusted the temp and joules and still the same taste. Just to make sure it wasn't the juice I put some in a Kanger plus with a .5 coil and it's great, so no problem with the juice.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I've gone back and read a thread about the coils and most folks seemed to like it pretty well. I didn't see any issues such as the one I'm having. I bought a pack of replacement coils and think I'm going to try changing the coil to see if that helps. Maybe got a bad coil, who knows. However, I wanted to see if anyone might have a suggestion or two as to what the problem may be. I'll check back later to update how the new coil is working. In the meantime, anyone out there have any feedback that may give me an idea why this coil tastes like crap.

Start low and move up.
and btw, that 420 degrees is farenheit , right?

Yes, Fahrenheit. 420 Celsius is what...788 F...I think my mod would've blown up had I tried that LOL. Legit question...I was just thinking out loud and not laughing at you.

Like I said, I've tried moving up and down the temp or wattage/joule to no avail. Letting the new coil soak now to see what happens.

I remember a recent thread about new ceramic stuff and was surprised to read something about a layer of cotton inside the ceramic;

so if your coil has some cotton in it and you burnt the cotton, it's probably going to continue tasting burnt.

I have my share of dry hits and this taste is nothing like cotton, however, it may have affected the coil. When I took it out to change it, it was black inside. Not sure what that means. Have it soaking in a vodka/water solution now to see what happens.

OK, new coil, different juice and I'm not getting blown away by the taste. It's better now and I can taste the juice, but still getting this "funky" taste. Not as bad as the first coil but now it's a plastic taste...I'm just beginning to think my taste buds are schizophrenic. Oh well.

huh?? how can cotton be inside the ceramic? many years ago I did ceramic pieces and the firing process to harden the ceramic was somewhere in the 1100C range... dont see how cotton could survive that...

from the pics it looked like a vertical chimney coil arrangement.
The coil was on the inside of the wicking material, carto style.

Coil is Nested in a cotton bedding.
Ceramic coils need Break in time.
Lower temps for a while and gradual raising.
Every test article I have read stated 1 tank to START producing proper flavor.
This is indeed very correct and I am also wondering if the user primed the coil. I have a vapresso, I did try both coils that came with it and not a problem. Also you need to beware of possibility of machine oil in the tanks which to the naked eye is not detectable, I had this issue with a Smok RBA deck it tasted like sh.... until I was told to boil it first. I am not saying to boil the ceramic coils though lol.
