Ever since I started mixing my own juice a few months ago, I've moved from building single coils exclusively to building all dual coils and the occasional quad coil. When I was buying commercial juice, the ~40% increase in vapor and flavor of a dual coil over a single coil was not worth going through $0.50 per mL juice almost twice as fast. Now that I am making my own juice for a less than $0.02 per mL, blasting through juice quickly is no longer a concern.

So I am looking to buy my first "four-hole" (four posts or two posts each with two holes) RDA in order to make building dual coils, and especially quad coils, easier. The majority of my builds are simple 2.5 mm dual microcoils, but I also dabble in more advanced builds somewhat often, such as Clapton coils, fused Clapton coils, staple coils, wickless coils, and the like.

Here are my preferences:

  • A juice well at least 3 mm deep
  • All four post holes at the same height, or if the positive post holes are raised higher than the negative post holes, the difference in height is minimal
  • The post holes not ridiculously high over the deck, requiring extremely long wicks. They should be close to the top lip of the juice well.
  • Not an RDA with bottom airflow coming up through a hole in the deck. Any other type of airflow is fine (traditional side airflow, top airflow, etc.). I already have three RDA's with bottom airflow and do not want a fourth.
  • Flavor is more important to me than clouds, but I do like to blow some huge clouds from time to time. So if the RDA has a large chamber, it should still give good flavor with the airflow closed down some.
  • Under $40 would be nice, but I would be willing to spend up to $100 or thereabouts if it performs much better, or much more closely matches my other preferences.

I've done my research, and have narrowed my choices down to the Wotofo Lush, 2 Puffs 2P, DotMod Petri v1.5, or the Twisted Messes RDA, but I am having trouble deciding.

Wotofo Lush: Price is great ($30), with a nice deep juice well that is even larger than it looks because of the space underneath the negative posts. The angled airflow holes are supposed to create a "swirling" airflow which is interesting. If $50 was my max budget, this is what I would get, but if another more-expensive RDA's on my list will work better for me, I am willing to pay for it.

2 Puffs 2P: Price is reasonable ($65), and the juice well is reasonably deep. The included color rings are a nice touch, and the chamber is fairly small, so flavor should be good. I am a bit concerned about the airflow -- the side airflow comes through a thin stylized logo instead of traditional holes or slots. Extra airflow comes through slots at the top, so this should make up for the limited side airflow.

DotMod Petri v1.5: A bit expensive ($100). Juice well is nice and deep, and the insulated deck is a great addition. This is a two-post RDA with two holes in each post, so quad-coil builds would only be possible if you positioned them one above the other. I only use quad-coil builds 5%, maybe 10% of the time, so it is not a big deal. What I am concerned about is the non-adjustable airflow, with only one large hole on each side. Will flavor be lacking because of this?

Twisted Messes RDA: Price is reasonable ($60), with a nice deep juice well. It looks awesome, and you can buy additional color "sleeves" for $15 (the copper one caught my eye). Good and highly-adjustable airflow. My only concern is the size of the chamber -- this is a rather large RDA. It should be awesome for cloud chasing, but will flavor be lacking?

What are your thoughts? If there is another sub-$100 four-hole RDA that meets my preferences that I haven't considered, please let me know. I would be willing to go up to $125 if it is something truly remarkable that meets all of my preferences.

Thanks for your help!

Aeolus v2 lite? I think that fits what you are looking for. Great upgrade over the pro at a good price, 39.99.
Literally what I was going to recommend. I have a TM atty & a Petri (v1), I don't trust the quality of Wotofo & don't know much on the 2puffs atty. but I know the Aeolus airflow system is great & the v2 lite has a centerpost block (with 2 holes in one post) like you're looking for.
The TM atty is great, but if you're just building standard micro coils or what you said, the post holes may be too big. That atty is meant for large coils.
The Petri is my go to atty behind my Kennedy 24, but the way the posts/post holes are set up isn't too great for quads. A velocity style build deck would be better suited for quads.
Check out the VCM Glacier v2 as well. It's 23mm & has a better version of the velocity style deck & different airflow. Plus it comes with all the bells and whistles, a built in chuff cap with AFC control, a standard cap, extra copper positive post/pin & insulators, etc.

and I'd say that juice well looks pretty deep. And it only runs you about $50.

I'll start off with two statements, I'm not a big dripper, I only have 3 and until recently my rdas were only used for testing liquids.... I progressed from a nimbus to a smok single coil rda and recently bought a Lush. I like it....

I stopped dripping because I ended up being more of a hassle than anything.... The juice well on the lush is deep, it lasts for a 30-min commute to work, but then again, it's not a 30 min vape session....
My only complaint, but not a major one to me, its not so easy adjusting the airflow. I can adjust it, but it's much easier for me to take off the entire top cap, adjust and replace than to try to adjust while fully assembled.... Not a major issue with me because I rarely adjust it unless I'm changing the juice I'm dripping or after changing a coil....

Wow, the Aeolus V2 Lite looks awesome! If the four post holes were all the same height it would pretty much be exactly what I wanted, but since the difference in height is minimal, it still looks to be the overall best choice. Thanks for the recommendation. I ended up buying one of these....and more. I found an authentic 4-post Wismec/JayBo Bambino (super-mini RDA) and an authentic Wotofo Lush, for $20 each on clearance. I also picked up a "generic" Stillare V3 clone by EhPro (by "generic" I mean a clone that is a copy of the design, but does not use the Stillare logo or branding) for $15. Triple coils could be interesting.

So for $100 and change including shipping, I get a whole set of new 4-post RDAs to add to my collection -- a mini (Bambino), a standard size (Aeolus), and a medium-large (Lush), as well as a triple-coil RDA, with three of them authentic. Not bad!

Thanks again for the help.

Honestly for quad coils, I prefer a 3 post, such as a Kennedy 24, with decent sized post holes. That way i can make "married" or "kissing" quads because the wraps going into the centerpost on each side touch & act as one coil. But yeah the Aeolus lite should serve you well. The post holes should all be the same height. If not, it just means you don't have to bend your coil leads and can fit them in easier.

I currently have the Sapor, Lush and Velocity mini. I've had the TM but sold it off. I don't build quad coils so I can't comment on that part but I will say the Wotofo RDA's are just a steal for the price. I don't see the quality lacking compared to the TM I had. I sold if off because I just didn't see any upgrade over the cheaper RDA's I owned, but it by no means is a bad RDA. Some of my other friends still use it mainly cause they do build quad coils and they say its a dream to build on. For dual coils like me I did not find any advantage with the TM in terms of flavor compared to any of the others I currently have. Flavor for me on the Lush was decent but not as good as my Sapor. The other annoying part I find with the Lush is the air control is a pain in the .... The ring is so narrow and its near impossible to adjust when you have any juice on your fingers at all. At this point now I refuse to purchase any RDA without a velocity deck. Its just a dream to build on in terms of ease. Lush does have a lot of space to build as does the TM. The swirl effect on the Lush doesn't do anything if you ask me, and the whine it makes when you inhale gets annoying after a while. It is a steal for the price though. Just my 2 cents.
