I have a very odd situation going on. I have this odd problem with my throat- it seems that when I very first start to vape for the day, or even after a few hour break, my throat and mouth become Oddly dry. On a normal "vape session" I can draw slowly for about 6-7 seconds to fill my mouth up, inhale very slightly for a throat hit, and then exhale. But to get to that point I have to vape for about 10-30 minutes to be able too.

I don't really understand why. Am I prepping my throat or something? It's like I can't inhale (just barely) without coughing up a lung. I've been vaping for a month now and I know you aren't supposed to fully inhale, which I never do. Just the slightest one for the throat hit. And it's odd that I can do it easily after vaping for awhile but not right when I wake right up, or after a 2-3 hour break. Any tips how to fight this?

I also drink water constantly while vaping, so I don't think it's dehydration or anything. I'm vaping on an aspire k1 at 4.3 volts, and my juice is 12mg.

Can't really say why that's happening. I know that I only have a problem if I'm dehydrated, which you are as you say taking care of already.

"You aren't supposed to inhale" isn't exactly true. You can inhale as much as you want/can tolerate, it is just that you absorb less nicotine from the inhale (lungs) than you would a cigarette, and more from the soft tissues of your mouth and nose. So, inhale if you want to, but letting the vapor linger in your mouth and/or exhaling through your nose increases absorption.

You might try decreasing your voltage during those times when you get that feeling in your throat. You could also try lowering the PG of your juice, which in higher levels helps throat hit from the nic carry.

50/50 is a good place to start, and many people go with that ratio and stay there. The Aspire K1 BVC coils can probably handle up to 30/70 PG/VG, lower PG than that might have trouble keeping up with wicking (which could cause dry hits - which I assume isn't the problem you are having, as it seems to get "better" over time rather than worse). Ratio is a personal preference/tolerance issue that you will need to experiment with to find your own "sweet spot".

For me, PG carries flavor and throat hit a little better, VG can make some juices a little "sweeter" and also produces more vapor. Your experience may vary a little. The primary component for throat hit is nicotine though, so the only surefire way to reduce throat hit is lowering nic levels. PG can add a "scratchy" feel to the throat hit though, which some people want, as there are plenty that love the throat hit. That's why I recommend at least giving lower PG a try.

Why are you not supposed to fully inhale? I've been on here since 2013 and that's the first I've heard of that...

When I would smoke I would half inhale sometimes because the hit was harder and It would make me cough.

Who told you that you're only supposed to shallow inhale?

I also wonder about your vaping technique? If you are doing a direct lung hit, like smoking a joint (sorry for the reference but I couldn't think of any other way to explain it lol) then that could really make you cough. Mouth to lung hits (like sucking juice through a straw) and then inhaling are typically much easier on the throat. Also higher pg juices can feel harsher and give much stronger throat hit but also give better flavor. Early morning vaping is always a little adjustment as you haven't vaped for around 8 hours or so.

After 3 years of vaping I figured out why the first vape of the day was kind of harsh on my throat. The light bulb went on one fine morning and realized that because I hadn't vaped during the night, the juice in the wick was cold and probably thicker, so I started priming the wick by just firing it for one second without inhaling on it and this did the trick.

Having a different issue. Seems after vaping for a few hours it's like my vocal chords get coated and my voice is 'froggy"???? Anyone else having this happen?

Do you get a heavy chest feeling too? Too much VG can do that.

But I know that froggy throat feeling; its an alarm bell

I had the problem when I started vaping was using 70vg/30pg mix and it just make me feel horrible, my chest felt heavy and throat felt weird. I switched to a 40vg/60pg and that is so much better for me. I don't know if its something everyone experiences or perhaps some people just can't do higher VG like some people can't do higher pg.
