Ok so I spent a good couple hours on these last night. I got one working and wicking real good, the other.....eh not so good. I ended up burning out 3 wicks, and about 6 coils. These are a hotspot magnet. Just as I get it glowing good and wicking good I fill it with juice and get a good 2 to 3 pulls then blasted by burnt juice. Discovered using a slightly drained protected battery at first helps till the coil buildup forms so when a hotspot forms it shuts off. Ill post more as I tinker more.

Ok last update. Got them both working good. It requires a lot more tinkering than the AGA-T. Using Half oxidize method with a little bit of oxidization for the wick hole. Use 5/6 wrap of .28 kanthal on 400 mesh. I have to tip more than my AGA-T cause of the long wick. The top cap gets very wam with my vaping style, I can only assume cause of the small cap. All in all once I got past the learning curve and wasted coil / mesh it was worth the money for an inexpensive genny.

That was what it looked like out of the package. I moved the coils around a little but then popped it. I rewrapped it with 28g and it now looks like this. It's metering .9. I have run about half a tank through it and have not had any kind of burnt or metallic taste. It's been perfect.

it seems as if your center post isnt being secured down. i wonder if that gap will create a problem for you.

heres a link for a 1.5mm air hole top cap. i scored one because for $3.59, its a deal (for me). i have no drill and this was a way for me to experience a slightly larger air hole without gambling. vapor production shot up immediately. i like it a lot and havent gone back to the stock 1mm air hole cap.

Griffin Parts - Top Cap - 1.5mm airhole

i cant say for sure if it will fit the fasttech genny, but im pretty sure its the same as the Griffin, Vulcan and genericly named "did clone". for the record, mine is a Vulcan, and this top cap is for a Griffin. fits perfectly. they also have the metal tube for it too, which looks awesome especially on a chrome mod. cant see the juice, but you can just tell when its low/empty. i broke my IBTankled pyrex tube for it (as well as the plastic tube that came with it  ) and didnt feel like springing ~$15 for a new IBTanked tube. especially seeign how the atomizer costs less than that.

FYI 1.5mm =~ 1/16

to the above comment about hotspots, tuck that wick closer to the post and youll be livin large.

yea, after posting the picture and seeing it up close, I had to take it apart and tighten the screws down. my rsst came in and I've been messing with it instead of the fasttech genny the last few days. It's been sitting here watching me LOL.. I'll get back to it soon.

If you are a DIYer, and happen to have a 12ml syringe, you can make a new clear tube for this geny. As long as you cut the tube exactly the same length as the chrome tube, it will fit perfectly.

Thanks for the info. The Vulcan is the clone that I've been planning to get. This thread had me hesitating because of the alignment. But, with the bigger hole on the Griffin cap, I think I'm good to go now!

I've been playing with mine for the last hour or so. I've been having problems with it shorting and it's not due to the coils. I put it on the EA and my button got hot. So I took it apart. Inside the center post, I found silicon insulators on each end. So this thing came setup with 4 silicon insulators. My other did clone, a "vulcan" from surevapes doesn't have insulators there. So I took them out. It's working better now and I have two extra insulators LOL. With these did clones, I've found that it's easy to over tighten the pos post screws and shred that bottom insulator. For $8...

Since we're talking about really cheap rebuildables, the Phoenix dripper is on sale at reosmods for $4, it comes with a micro screwdriver and shipping is $2. I've been thinking about getting a dripping atty to play with and I've heard good things about the Phoenix. This is a "clone" but it's still getting good reviews.. if anyone is interested :)

^beautiful on that provari

Did some tweaking because of this thread

6/5 wrap 1.0 ohm 3.3v hybrid wick
ss wick with silca down its center, out the top and bottom
hanging out like an octopus atomizer
1 single strand of silca makes a huge difference
in flavor and vapor smokeyness (huge)
so smooth it's amazing
i removed a thumb screw reserving it as an extra part for the dropsy loss
if happens which always does with these thingys
success

Well, I tried a bunch of stuff on mine, and just couldn't get it where I wanted. (mine being the metal drip tip one I linked to a few pages back). Hate to say it; but I kinda gave up on it. Got a nice little dripper out of the deal tho. Actually, ended up with 1 dripper, 1 nice metal drip tip, a replacement stem w/ better nuts for an AGA-T2, and a spare insulator and o-rings; for $8. Not bad. Here's the dripper. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...d-clone-makes-all-difference.html#post9277753

I hope you had two of them
its really good now after mods listed above
the octopus mod has blown me away on flavor
i stuffed the fill hole with ss wick and used the cotton ball fluffy ss wick technique up top
its better than any and all I have tried
there is no coil on the "flavor wick"
which is aligned perfectly with air hole

intense taasete cant even write correctly im vapin

I think I'm done with this device. For the second time I had what I guess is a "hard" short. The button on my EA got extremely hot and I knew something was wrong. I took the fasttech genny off the EA and looked it over and once again, the center pin/pos post has pulled up into the insulator and I think, is causing the short. I hate this.. it sure is a cute little thing and vapes really well. Just be aware that this can happen.

three minutes later... I took the device apart and the insulator shown above came out in two pieces. Once again, it torn apart up in the shaft and could have caused some damage if I hadn't caught it right away. Actually there was no way I couldn't have caught it right away. I was pretty careful not to tighten the screws and it happened anyway. I think I'll stick with my real dids.

I am getting there with mine. I don't have a problem with the center post, I just get constant hotspots after it sits for a while. Trying the Petar K method and it seems to be better. I had one of the sets of O-rings go out on me for the tank. Seems they drilled the grooves too deep. I certainly don't keep my all day juice in these.
