When working with test samples, 5 - 10 ml, What will work better, syringes vs pipettes? What kinds are best for this purpose. My gut feeling is a syringe would be easier as you can draw the plunger to the line you want. I have not worked with pipettes. I would think the kind with the blub will not give you the control you get with a syringe.

There is also the kind of pipettes without the bulb but I would think you would then need to have a container high enough to get the right amount into the pipette.

I like the syringes as the pipettes do not always let go of the juice they have, and I get frustrated.
So I just do the syringes. I have ordered some blunt needles so that it is easier to fill the syringes, and not get liquids all over the place, or have to wait for buble to clear out for juice to fill in syringes.

needle length = 1.5 inches. (when the juice gets close to empty, turn the dropper bottle upside down and pull needle out until just in the juice).

14-16 guage needles for VG.
18 guage needles for PG
17 guage needles for flavor & thin mixes.

This is where I ordered mine - great deal
Dispensing Needles, Blunt, Stainless Steel, Tapered & Applicator TIps, Industrial, Luer Lock

ps. my test samples that i DYI are 3ml.

Pipette only for me; especially when mixing small batches because accuracy is paramount.

A 2ml and 10ml pump makes mixing EASY and accurate

The pipette, for me, is a no go. I only use syringes. I have several different sizes, so that I can match the amounts of liquid that I'm working with, and they are very cheap and easy to clean. If you go this route, a 5ml & a 10ml should get you through most jobs & get a variety of needle sizes as stated above by Tweazee.

Paralex2, that's an interesting photo. Can you tell me how it works? And where you got them?

If you get the pumps, get the 2ml and 5ml pipettes that go with them. You stick the pipette in the bottom and roll the wheel with your thumb. When you are ready to dispense, press the lever to empty the pipette. It's a one time buy for about $25 for all of it, but the accuracy and ease of mixing is well worth it to me.

I am very new to this but I have been using only syringes as I'm a paramedic and I have easy access to them. For me they are just easier to work with and the accuracy can't be beat. I use a 3ml 5ml and a 1ml (also called a tuberculin syringe). Also if you can get your hands on IV catheters they work great to put on the end of the syringe for reaching the bottom of the bottle. They are the soft plastic tubes that remain in the vien when an IV is started, no needles to worry about that way.

I really love my blunt tip syringes. It feels more accurate to me, and I make much less of a mess with the syringes. The bad side to the blunt tip ones is I think eventually the writing wears off.

there is writing on the needle?
or do you mean the syringe? You can get new syringes for free at pharmacy ask for 1-2 from pharmist.

Hey parallex2, (Hang on there's a bug on my screen ....)

Are the pipettes for the pumps graduated ? What is the smallest graduation. Sometimes I need .1-.2 ml measures. I have 1ml syringe but the graduation markings start coming off then u cant use it.
