Even with the choppy TC, I've been getting much better flavor with the Nebula than with the IPV4. Getting your taste buds back ususally means having to vape some coffee or menthol flavored juice between fruit/sweet flavors. Coffee does the trick for me every time. When I go back to strawberry cereal flavors, its like BAM!!! The flavor is back :thumb: my only issue with the Nebula is that it gives a "low res" message when my coils are freshly built. I have to unscrew the atty just a little bit, fire the Nebula, and when it's warmed up the coil I can screw it back down. After about 2-ish hours of vape time, it'll fire without issue. The builds are ususally 0.1 - 0.13, 15 wraps, 2.5mm, 28g Ni200 from lightning vapes. Setting the nickel purity at 90 seems to work best with that kind of wire. Ordered some TI to see if there's any difference, and going to try SS.

I get the low res message when trying to fire this one Ni200 coil I built that is a double 28 twisted 10 wrap. Works on my DNA devices but the Nebby won't do it. I thought you had 2 Nebula's? They're both giving you the same message now? I thought it was yer zepherus RTA that was the culprit.

Unfortunately I'm not. Used it once. Then my new toys came in. Now it's just looking lonely. Along with my Sxk zero v3. Might go up to the classys soon.

Say it ain't so lol.

I take mine every time I go out to a bar or ballgame or whatever. Topped with a brass derringer, it has sstarted more conversations than any other vape gear I've used. The mod itself is tiny and the derringer very tiny on top of it. When folks see the cloud of dense vaper that it produces, it definitely surprises. I also get a lot of"what is that, a gold bar or "something"? lol.

Haha I got a black one. Brass was too flashy for me. But it didn't matter, got it last week and it never left the house. It was this very thread that made me buy 3 sxks. I got to stop listening to you guys.

If you listened, you'd have the brass one lol.

Yup I really like my Nebula, particularly for the lovely big, clear screen.

Can any of you brass experts tell me if it's normal for the mod to get blacker and blacker over time? True my hands are often dirty - usually from spilt juice! But none of my stainless mods pick up any dirt.

For a few weeks I didn't use the Nebula and it was just in a box, when I took it out it had black marks all over it, that seemed to have developed just from it sitting there, not from handling. So I got some special metal cleaning cloths I bought a while ago, these:

foil_pouch_new_large.jpg

I had to buff really really hard, and on the cloth came a huge amount of black. But eventually I got it all nice and shiny and looking awesome.

But now after just another 10 days or so, I can already see black areas coming back. And given last time the marks just appeared when I wasn't using it, I'm not even sure if it's from my hands or just the air.

I think I've heard that brass is special/different in some way to other metals. Like it needs special care?

How do you guys keep your brass Nebula looking shiny?

this will always happen with brass and copper. You could only clear coat it, polish it all the time or let it do its patina.

I developed computer cooling systems in the past and we use 90% copper. Handling was only done with white gloves so everything stays perfect. 1 fingertip and you had a black fingerprint the next day :)

You can kind of see what I mean here, it's not black but it's got darkened areas all over it, especially near the 'SXK 60' text.

I can wipe it with my cleaning cloths again, but will this always happen over time? Or is there some special brass polish I can put on to prevent it?

I dunno, @TheBloke yours looks like raw brass, bare, no lacquer. Mine definitely has some sort of clear coat, maybe lacquer. Except for the finger prints, if I took a polishing pad to it, it would look almost as shiny as when I got it. Maybe you got a preproduction unit, bare bones type. Doesn't yours also have the low resistance issue?

Uncleaned, rock it with the finger prints.

Yeah mine was literally one of the first handful of units, serial number 001 (although there's some suggestion there were multiple 001s)

Yes I do have the low resistance issue, as do all my SXK units.

I don't know how to describe my finish, it just feels like metal. The most noticeable thing is variations in the colour, darker to lighter, and these don't change just rubbing it with a cloth. They only did when I used that special metal polish stuff I showed above. It also always feels slightly.. sticky, or clammy.

OK so they probably improved the finish, well that's good not everyone's is as bad as mine at least :) I won't bother cleaning it any more if it's always going to go back to looking like this within days.

Never dull works great. I ended going with a D2 and I'm liking it a lot with titanium builds.

My D2 has a better vape in TC than my Nebby. However the D2 has no step down in wattage mode, my Nebby does step down in both TC and wattage mode. Kind of a give and take. D2 is my work mod, tiny, cheap and I don't care if I drop it or get PVC primer or cement, flux, pipe dope, etc on it.
