A technic for rolling your own portions from loose (los) snus

What you need

Tea bags. I use lipton as they are not heat sealed and you can get a lot of portions out of one bag
Loose snus
Scissors
Ice tool (optional)

Finished. You can shape it anyway you want or use any amount you want. A 45 gram can of loose snus can last a long time. Especially good for those that do minis. 90 1/2 gram portions per can instead of 20, plus you can use lots of flavors not available in minis.

I did this for about 2 months and it works very well. A can of loose lasted me over a week. Cheap indead.

The reason I stopped doing it is that snus is so cheap here in the US the money wasn't an issue so I went back to portions. I like the fact that I could make the portions long and slim. It kept it away from the gum line which is probably a good thing. I now fold my portions length wise (short end even shorter) so it keeps the snus well away from the gum line. Lab 01 is the exception as it already has a good shape to it.

Never had one fall apart on me but I don't mess with it. Put it in and leave it alone.

Hey I like it Stubby!
Touch more instruction on the use of the pris tool and what you actually do with the material. Fold and roll or.....

I fold, but there are likely many ways it could work. Do it a bunch of times and it gets very fast. I used to do RYO tobacco and I can roll (fold) a portion as fast as I could roll a smoke.

Place the snus in the middle of tea bag, fold over the long sides towards the middle and fold over the short side. The snus is moist so it kind of seals itself. No glue needed, very simple.

The ice tool is a bit harder to explain but this should help

SnusOn.com - Snus Forum :: View topic - How to use Icetool

The ice tool is optional but if you get serious about using loose it has nice markings on it so you can measure out how much you use. You can hand bake it and that's free.

Excellent exposé Stubby, just what the doctor ordered.

Amazed you can get 3/4 gram held securely in 1/8th of a teabag,
but obviously.....

I think those bags must be bigger than the Tetley pyrimid bags I'm using,
also I'm getting a slight taste of tea (no - really ?)

Really long & very thin ones, like 1/4 g and 4 or 5 cm long are pretty fiddly,
but (almost) worth the extra effort cos of the very secure fit in the top of upper lip.

Thought maybe of making say a work-days worth (probably 4 or 5 minis for me),
fresh from the fridge in the morning & put them into individual pop-top plastic vials,
(happen to have loads), small enough carry easily in jacket pocket.

1 can TF minis (20 off = 10g) = cost me same as 1 can loose 45g (at least before tax),
tried loose, not a fan, might try to get some fresh teabag material - anyone know where its at?

You can buy the tea bag material from most herbal shops like Mountain Rose or the like. They mainly sell the heat press kind but those should work just fine as well. Fairly cheap too. Something like $3 for 50 bags.

nice! i see another hobby in my future...
