okay so I need advice on what I'm getting into. I am not using an E-Cig to quit smoking, but to quit consuming excessive amounts of sugar (basically 80-100 grams of sugar after each meal, sometimes more. pretty much one of those re-sealable bags of skittles is the amount I consume), and so far it's working. I've been eating a lot healthier since I bought my E-cig, whenever I want candy, I take a few puffs on my Green Nicotine /w 15 MG (I meant to ask for 10 MG) refills or my GN disposable cigar, and don't want it anymore, in fact it works well to curb my appetite in general. I do not inhale either, but rather just puff on them like a cigar. There is diabetes in my family so I obviously need a way to cut sugar cravings, and this is really doing the trick. my question is this: is nicotine worse than a lot of sugar? I really think I'm addicted to sugar the same way most are addicted to nicotine; I get bad cravings and sometimes I even get headaches if I cant have it. but which would do me more harm? if nicotine is worse, is there any risk in just using the non-nicotine cartridges and seeing how that does? I've heard mixed things about nicotine, some say it does cause cancer, some say it doesn't, others say it still causes heart diseas, and some people say nicotine is the whole reason smokeless tobacco is bad for you. let me know what I should do.

The thing thats likely working for you, is that nicotine is a known appetite suppressant. Also, the act of using an e cig satisfies the mouth fixation that could be occupied by food. In your case, however, I see the nicotine as the lesser of two evils, and though nicotine by no means is risk-less, sugar in the quantities you describe consuming daily is most definately going to be detrimental to your health.

My suggestion is to carry on with vaping, until you get your cravings for sugar under control and then slowly reduce the nic level to 0 over time.

wow that's horrible! yeah I just get really bad candy cravings when I'm done eating a solid meal, and my E-Cig helps a lot. I've seen what diabetes can be like, and from the looks of it I'm headed down that path easily if I don't do SOMETHING to heavily cut the sugar out of my diet before I get it myself. I'm only 20 but my grandpa got diagnosed with it when he was in like his late 40s- early 50s. NOT something you want to get. I heard nicotine can cause it too though, or rather theres a link between it and insulin

Well getting a definitive answer on Nicotine vs Sugar might be best left to your doctor. A lot of excess sugar is very bad for you, it causes all sorts of health problems, including diabetes. I am not sure that nicotine is the way to go to avoid sugar, maybe there are some other ways to consume less sugar without picking up another addiction? Anyway, I am definitely not a Doctor or even close to one, so not sure what to even say, other than your body needs -some- sugar but has no need for nicotine at all. (unless you count being addicted to it, like many of us are).

I personally think it's a terrible idea. Obviously I'm not against vaping, I'm doing it myself. But I'm an addict.

One of the the reasons I started smoking was I thought it'd help me not gain weight. That was the 'thing to do' many years ago when smoking was acceptable. Now I'm vaping and haven't smoked in two days after smoking for 20+ years, but it was the worst thing I ever did. I'm vaping because I can't quit.

I think you should see your doctor or a nutritionist. Get some help to work on a healty eating plan.

are you overweight? if so, how much?

and have you ever heard of stevia?

Im not overweight but I kind of have a belly, which at my age will turn into being obese by the time I'm 40. and I HATE artificial sweeteners with a burning passion. I've tried them all, splenda, stevia, nutrasweet, they all taste NASTY! and I do have a plan if I find out this will be worse: my brother really DOES SMOKE and has a PoS 51 trio that he got at a gas station for 40 dollars. if I find a better way I'll just give this to him. also I figured it would be worth mentioning that I'm autistic and I like anything with an abrasive quality to it, like sour candy for example, and that dry/kind of burning feeling the nicotine gives you is what I like the most about it, it's kind of a sensory thing.

another reason I figured I would do this is so I could show it to people I know that DO smoke and try to spread the word about it.

I have somewhat a different take on this, I think.

Personally, I have gained a TON of weight smoking analogs alongside my sugar addiction. So for me, nicotine itself may have provided some appetite suppression, but very little. And if it caused a great appetite suppression, i shudder to think of how much more I could weigh if I hadn't been smoking all along.

Now, I've been vaping for 13 days and have eaten maybe 5 Hershey's kisses and a handful of peanuts. Before, I would eat about a bag of kisses in a day (sometimes 2) and a jar of peanuts would last me a few days. I truly believe that the reason I'm not snacking constantly is because I'm vaping these really tasty flavors and they are satisfying my sweet tooth along with my nicotine addiction. My full day vape is 8mg and I bump it up to 24mg when I have a nicotine craving.

With all that said, I would seriously recommend at least trying zero nicotine juice. You can buy 4 ounces of no nic juice from Tasty Vapors for the same price as 1 ounce of juice that contains nicotine. If the no nicotine juice does not work for you, you can always add some nicotine juice.

that's what I heard, and my reasoning is this: smoking to curb your appetite was a trend back in the day, and smoking is obviously worse for you than eating bad, but at the same time, I heard it DID work, its just once again, smoking obviously causes more health problems than anything other than say heroine, ......., etc. then they invented E-cigs. my question is, now that I can get just nicotine and nothing else for this purpose, which would cause more health problems in the long run? eating sugar, which I especially seem to want to do when I'm stressed or after I just ate, or consuming nicotine? a few years ago before E-cigs were known about, I also had a theory that using nicotine gum would do the same thing but I never did it because I wasn't 18 and I heard the gum tasted like complete crap.

I could probably plow through a box of candy like nobody's business, e-cigs, analogs wouldn't matter. I don't buy the stuff. If it's not in my house, I don't eat it. Don't buy the stuff, and if you have people in your house that do, ask them to put it somewhere that's not accessable or a temptation to you.

Vaping seems like a fairly expensive way to go about not eating sweets. I'm not trying to minimize your problem. I do think that you can be addicted to sugar and it is a problem. But I just don't think this is the most efficient way to go about trying to prevent yourself from eating sugar.

and like I said, I'm like Bill Clinton: I do not inhale. (except unlike Bill Clinton, I'm telling the truth!) here's what I think I'll do: I'll switch to Zero Nicotine, and if that doesn't work, I'll give my kit to my brother. I can sell the cartridges I have left to someone I know who uses the same kind of E-cig for like $15.

About 10 years ago I tried to quit smoking and I was eating the pound bags of Twizzlers. Seriously I ate about a pound of twizzlers every other day.

Long story short, I gained about 20+ pounds and never quit smoking. Atkins was popular at the time (which is NO sugar). I don't recommend it, but I did lose the weight. I had serious headaches from the sugar withdraw for about a week but it didn't last. Neither did the weight loss but I lost it again with exercise and a balanced diet I got from a nutritionist and haven't gained the weight back since.

Take a Zumba class. Fun and a great way to get rid of stress. :D

Ex-sweet jucky............ok just my 2 cent worth. Some people fail to realize that corn syrup and sugar digested different. I wish I could use any type of sugar-free products. I don't mind the taste but my body don't like it for some reason.

HFSC:High Fructose corn syrup is now finally getting a bad rep....I read somewhere that HFSC cause to feel like you are still hungry. I use to be able eat a 2 lbs. of twizzler on one sitting. So I decided only kind of sweet in my house has to be only made with sugar and not HFSC/CS. You be amazed how the craving go down(mine did), along with appetite.

I only buy 1 candy bar a week *Dark Special* now and share it with my daughter and granddaughter. Plus I only go thru a 12pk of pop a mo and only if it has sugar like pepsi was selling. Now I just buy Sierra Mist(a pk use to last me 3-4 day)

Remember to do it baby steps like "Eat this Not that" lol
