My Nitecore I4 did not and I also like seeing how close the bats are to being charged.
At this point I have reached out to the place I purchased the mod as I can find no visual defect on the "A" contact points. It's very odd.
Is there a stealth mode on the alien? If so, how do you turn it off? Either I went into stealth mode accidentally or my screen is fried. Seems to be working okay otherwise so I have hoping for the stealth mode!!!
Yes their is. I don't have it with me right now so I'm going on memory but tap the fire bar 3 times and scroll to the settings menu, it should be there. Also I think a shortcut is to hold the fire bar and + button at the same time but I'm not sure on that one.
Without a screen, I cannot scroll thru the menu. I tried that shortcut. Must be my screen is shot. First time that I have had issues with a mod.
When you put in the batteries, do you see SMOK and the version? That will display no matter if if stealth or not.
May help you confirm the screen works.
I was getting nothing. Now, I occasionally get a garbled screen. Definitely the screen is shot. I have only had it a week so should be able to return it. Issue is that I bought it from China!! Too bad as I was really liking this mod.
bout 30 minutes after getting my Alien kit in the mail, upgrading the firmware putting in batteries and juicing it up, I took about 10 hits from hit put it aside and I hear a click from the mod. I pick it up and try to take a puff but the screen has gone black and it wont turn on. the batteries are in the correct way and I have tried switching them around and trying a new set up batteries all together.
Please help....

I would have it replaced immediately. Others have asked for the hex file for the 1.21 and I don't think anyone has responded. If you have a 2nd alien, I can tell you how to wipe the bad one and put the firmware back on, but I wouldn't wipe it without having another one for the program to recognize.
Have you plugged it in to see if the mod is being recognized by the upgrade program? If it says there is nothing there that is when you need a 2nd one to capture the program. But honestly, having problems so soon after purchase, I would try for the vendor to replace it.
eta: Try the 5 clicks to see if you can turn it on. Every time I replace batteries, I have to 5 click it again to turn it on.

To reach stealth mode its 3 clicks, then 3 clicks (that puts you where the stealth command is)and press either the up or down button(don't remember which one but I think its a toggle for on/off.
If you don't get it the first time, just wait approx 10 seconds for the mod to go back to the normal screen and try it again.
If you are in the USA, Madvapes is the authorized Smok service dealer. I had a problem with my Smok X Cube and I sent it to them and they promptly replaced it for me.
I am in Canada. Don't know if they would deal with it for me.

I have had an xcube 2 for almost a year and really love it but I could never get the TC to work properly.
Any suggestions? Looking to set a custom tcr coeffiecient to use nife52 wire in TC.
Also tempted to maybe get a rx200 2/3 I am really torn on what mod I should next get. Looking for people who have been using TC mode on either the ultra or alien that can attest that it works reliably without any issues.

Thank you for your reply. Fortunatly I do have a second alien mod working with firmware version 1.2.1 could you tell me off to grab the hex file off the mod so I can try to flash it to my non working Alien mod.
On another note yes the program and my computer does detect my "broken" alien mod and I can flash stuff successfully
I had a problem with one of my alien mods that I could not get out of constantly locking it up after resting for a few seconds so here is what I did.
I let the program detect it. Then I hit only the erase button. Hit update. That totally wiped out all programming on that mod.
Leaving the program up on the screen I then connected the working alien mod, clicked connect and then switched the non working one with the working one. Look at where you uploaded the update program for the aprom file and click on the 2nd part where it uploads the config, upload it to the screen. Click the aprom and config file and update.
It totally reset my non working mod and my problem disappeared. Best case senario is that it fixes whatever problem you have. Worst case senario is it stays right where its at.
Right now I am on a chromebook and cannot see the program and don't have my pc available in order to look. Going on memory alone.
I don't see a way to upload the 1.21 version but this could fix whatever is wrong. Worth a try.

eta: You could try and update the config file alone. You could try this first....
Bring program up on the screen and don't touch where you update the aprom file. Instead of totally wiping your mod-- upload only the config file to your non working mod(next box down from the aprom file). Then in the buttons below where you see the check boxes for aprom, erase, config, etc. click only the config option. See if that doesn't fix the problem with the screen. If that fails then try the above.

So far the TC from the Alien has been a disappointment for me in SS316L mode since switching to the 1.2.2 new firmware, either it is too enemic or too hot, feel like goldilocks but can't get it just right. SS304 works great though with the TCR set at 105.
The RX mods have that janky 510 so TC can be spotty, I would avoid if TC is all you use.
Really your going to get the best performance for TC from either a DNA or Hohm tech mod. The DNA'S can be pretty pricey and some have to be setup by the user in escribe. I know the Lost Vape and I am pretty sure Volcano DNA'S already come setup. The SMY SDNA 75 also comes setup out of the box but sounds like you want more power.
The Hohm tech G2 can be had at vaporcube.com for about $45 right now. There is a coupon code in the G2 thread. It is boxy though but built like a tank. It will TC any wire, love the mod. The Hohm tech Slice is a smaller more comfortable form factor and uses a 26650. Works the same as the G2 but is limited to 101 watts instead of 171 for the G2. There was a flash sale for the Slice LE at vaporbeast a few weeks ago for less than $30, steal for that price, I bought 2 more. Maybe we might see something for Black Friday? If there is I am going to buy the blue Slice as well.
You can't go wrong with either a DNA or Hohm tech mod for TC, the 2 top chips out right now.

The Alien has been working OK for me with 316L after changing the TCR to 92. Maintains a pretty consistent vape, but no, it's not a DNA mod. It was also far less than my DNA mods, especially on a flash sale for it from Ecig. At its current ~$60 price point (just about, right?) you could throw a bit more money down on a DNA, or even save some on a G2, but for <$40 on sale, I've found it a nice little mod (literally, it really is small for a 2 battery mod).
I settled on 92 for the TCR but tried a little higher and a little lower but just can't seem to find a happy medium. I have the OBS Engine on it right now and took a hit and good for the first second then trailed off and back up. Second hit was better but it is too hit or miss for me right now. Going to put my Billow V3 back on there with the SS304 build and put the TCR back to 105, it works perfectly there.
I am going to try reflashing the firmware, just have to find the time, holidays are hectic. Didn't have this problem with 1.2.1 though, just with 1.2.2.
