Ty. Looks like @ the Tx/La line is in for quite a hit. A Cat 4 is nothing to mess with! We’re far enough east to just get wet and windy. I wouldn’t wish it to hit anyone, but I’m so glad it’s not coming here.@NolaMel Just looked at the weather.Praying for you and your family's safety lady. Please keep us posted if you can.

Currently I have a 2mm ID 0.5Ω coil and 95% of the time wick it Exocet style. Also up to 25w MTL-RDL.While the Kat is away....
I'm interested in what coil ID and wicking fellow Dvarwées are using.
I started with a 2.5mm id baby flat wire coil, and wicked it Exocet style.
Next rewick I did it the traditional boring way, with the wick tucked inside the chamber.

From @Robfisher 's Tutorial:
Dvarw RTA DL from KHW Mods in Hungary
I then stuck in a 3mm id baby flat wire coil and wicked it traditional. I rewicked that this morning, and went back to Exocet style (cuz I could).
I much prefer the vape from it wicked Exocet style, it's denser and just wicks better for my crazy vaping style (MTL @ 25W) But due to the FL Dvarw having a fixed/keyed chimney position, I find it easier wicking it the traditional way. Anyway, I'm persevering with the Exocet wick from now on. I just reserve the right to swear a lot at my Dvarw's fixed position chamber![]()
Totally agree mate. And nice to see the remover of obstacles, Ganesh.Me too Ange. I like less height.
I would get one, or two, Zaz.Damn, now I'm wavering on the Mixx.
Details on Exocet with rayon? Don’t trim the tails? I used Exocet with cotton and loved it.Currently I have a 2mm ID 0.5Ω coil and 95% of the time wick it Exocet style. Also up to 25w MTL-RDL.

IMO the Exocet style of wicking is the most efficient for any Dvarw. I find it quick and easy in both the original Dvarw and the FL.
I know of 3 ways to wick a Dvarw.
1) The bunny ear style. This wicking method is the easiest of the three. You just trim your tails above the JC chimney ring and tuck them in. It works and the the flavor the Dvarw is known for is there. For someone new to building, or perhaps new to the Dvarw, this is the way to go before moving on to one of the other two.
The bunny ear style originated from the original Kayfun's.
2) Vapdivrr's style. It is a more efficient wicking style versus the bunny ear method. I use this method from time-to-time. It is fairly easy.

3) The Exocet style. The most efficient of the three IMO. Once you've done it a few times it is just as quick as the bunny ear method.
Each of those work very well with rayon or cotton.
With the Dvarw MTL FL (oval juice holes) and originals (with upgraded ovals) using the Exocet style and rayon I don't do any trimming of the tails. With the original Dvarw and the circular juice holes I did trim the tails (sides and top). I bought the updated JC ring with oval holes for all my original Dvarw's.Details on Exocet with rayon? Well spotted SMT ! I thought someone would notice the apps on my dock in the photo and had money on you. Yes PT is the pro standard. That version is ProTools 10 HD and I still use it for my day to day work because it's compatible with some legacy McDSP (and other) plugins that I can't mix without. I also use and like Logic for some things but it's a bit counterintuitive for old school engineers like me. Ableton, Performer - also great platforms.Totally agree mate. And nice to see the remover of obstacles, Ganesh.
Pro Tools 10, way to go!!! I've used it, and love it, though I much prefer MOTU's Digital Performer, Apple's Logic and Ableton. But I know PT is the industry standard.![]()
Pull the trigger Zaz. You'll love it.Damn, now I'm wavering on the Mixx.
Thank you! I have mtl and use 2.5 ID. I’ll try it with no trim. With the Dvarw MTL FL (oval juice holes) and originals (with upgraded ovals) using the Exocet style and rayon I don't do any trimming of the tails. If I had a DL FL and was using a 3mm ID coil I may trim rayon (depending).
With cotton and a 2.5mm ID coil in the MTL FL I do trim on the sides and top with Exocet as cotton expands and IMO could choke off free and easy juice flow. Or IMO at the very least create a tighter bottleneck for juice flow once the cotton expands.![]()
I see the logic, but I probably won't cave. I just have so, so much stuff. If the cats start making fun of me because my attys look silly on my mods, well, I order the Fancy Feast . . .I would get one, or two, Zaz.
They're really nice and comfy in-hand. Plus our taller atty's don't look ridiculous on them like they do on regular mods (IMO). Carli knocked mine with a Tripod off a table a couple days ago. My heart skipped a beat for fear of broken Tripod glass. However both Tripod and Mixx survived to vape another day.

See above.Pull the trigger Zaz. You'll love it.
McDSP plugins are super nice. I went with some of the iZotope and FabFilter audio plugins. They are pretty intuitive for me. Pick a preset, we're in the ballpark, tweak a little and I'm happy. But I remove those when an engineer takes over. My feeling is let the engineer with better quality plugins place their art where it's needed. Audio plugins are a very serious and super deep rabbit hole. I invested in virtual instruments like NI Komplete, Spectrasonics Omnishpere and others.Well spotted SMT ! As for Ganesh - that statue's a gift from my mum. I love it. Been removing obstacles for years.
