Quick Question on the Hana/Cana Modz DNA30/Clone

Hey guys, quick question on the Hana, Cana, DNA Clone, Etc. So I know when I build coils for the Provari I have a 15 watt limit I have to account for. And when I'm building coils for my "mechanical" mods, I have a 10amp limit to account for so I do not over stress my 18650 battery. When I have an 18650 battery in the Hana (or whatever) which is 30watt limit, what do I have to account for? 30Watts? Won't this super stress the battery if I am going sub ohm? Because I have seen in discussions that these mods will go that high even sub ohm. Are there safety limitations in place in these units? I am not completely understanding this aspect with these types of 30watt box mods. OR do I still have to vape by my batteries amp limits with these units?

If by "my mods" you mean mechanicals, you would be best off with a 30 AMP (or higher) 18650. With a DNA 30 or similar, you need to keep the resistance of your coils withit its listed spec and realize that you can't get to minimum power (7w on a true dna 30) with lower res coils or to max power (30 W of course) with higher res coils. The DNA 30 has voltage range of 3.7-8.3 volts, so that is the range you would use to figure out your wattage range for whatever resistance coil. Aside from that just get high quality batteries.

With a DNA 30, but any battery that is rated for over 12.5 amps.

I use Efest Purple 3100mah 20A batteries in all of my regulated MODs. It has very good life, and more than enough amperage overhead.

The max amperage drawn for any vv/vw mod is determined by the max current draw of the chip and not the resistance of the coil. The China 30 Watt chip will draw max, per spec, of 12.5 amps.

However, there are chip designs that have a dual mode. When the resulting output is within the range that the chip is designed to handle, it behaves as above. But if the output would exceed spec it will instead just act as a pass thru and connect battery plus and minus to the coil. In this case the amperage drawn is determined by the coil, just like a mechanical. It also means that the wiring and the chip are exposed to this (potentially greater) current, so the materials used especially the wiring become extremely important.

I don't know if the Chinese clone chips have this feature or not. I've been following some of the threads out of curiosity, but haven't been studying and taking notes. Which is why I remember the amp limit of the chip but not all its features.

Yes (any 18650 will do). That's the difference between a regulated vs. a mech mod. With a mech mod you have to know what you're doing.

Any battery used should be rated for a MINIMUM of 12 amps continuous discharge current. High C rated lithium polymer or IMR cylindrical cells are strongly preferred. Make sure that all contacts and connections are capable of handling at least 12 amps.

Gotcha, ok, so what do you think about the Panasonic NCR18650CH which I heard was originally rated for 15, and then was later changed back down to 10amps? I have 3 brand new ones and would like to use them with the Cana.

I understood the previous post, but thought maybe you had some knowledge on the whole 15 bump down to 10 on that specific battery, and could maybe give input if that would work, but thanks.
