Hana DNA30 V3 Question

Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well today :). I recently preordered the Hana V3 DNA30 mod, and I have a couple of questions as this will be my first mod. First according to the hana modz website I should order some Sony VTC4 batteries, Do I need to order flat top or button top, or does it matter? Is there another battery that would work even better? Second question is should I also order a charger since it is capable of charging the battery internally? If so which charger would be a good and safe charger? Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I have used both AW button top batteries and Efest flat top batteries, both worked fine.

The Sony is a good balance of mAh and Amp rating, it allows you use the full range of the DNA 30 board. If you are never going to subohm you could always get the Panasonic 2900 mah batteries for more battery life. Currently I am using the purple Efest 2500mah 35A batteries.

Whether to get a charger depends on if you plan on swapping batteries. If you plan on buying one battery and never removing it, then the on board charging would be fine. If you want to be able to swap batteries so you can go longer without charging then you would probably be better off getting a charger.

You should never charge a batteries unattended or overnight, so if the Hana is going to be your main mod and you don't want to use other devices while waiting for it charge then a charger and multiple batteries would be a good investment. As for a good charger I have a Nitecore Intellicharger and it works well. Not sure about any others I have always heard to avoid chargers with fire in the name.

Im using Panasonic 18650 2900mah. You only need the 30 amp ones if you plan to go into the 20 watt range. I did order some of the efest 35a purples as well because i want more batteries in my cycle. I use an xtar 2 bay. You can get a quality charger for 25 bucks.

Id recommend not charging it via the device just in case something goes wrong, id rather lose a charger than lose my 250 dollar hana.

Anyone else have any hiccups with the dna30 battery indicator? Yesterday my mini went from 1/2 charged to nothing as soon as I turned it on. Plugged it in and in a few minutes it was at full charge. I'm guessing it was 1/2 charged the entire time but for some reason the indicator went to empty. It never powered down to the home screen so I know it had power.

Would add just fyi. In my experience with this mod running a single micro at higher ohms has greatly helped with battery life. I'm running this atomic with a 2.3 ohm micro at 19 watts so that keeps my amp draw fairly low. I can get nearly a full days use on a single charge and still have an outstanding vape. When I've tried say the origen with 0.7ohm duals at 24 watts+ my battery life drops to less than 5 hours. Not bad really. I did go ahead and pick up an external battery pack for the mini and have a pre order in for the full size hana.

Mine does the same thing, if I let the screen power down the next time I fire it the battery will show a lower charge than is actually there. After a little bit of use it seems to fix itself and shows the correct battery life. It doesn't seem to be consistent in that it doesn't do it every time the screen shuts off.

This is with the full size Hana and two different batteries so it appears to be a function of the DNA chip not the battery.

No but I am having problems where if it powers down it wont turn back on. I have to take the battery out and put it back in for it to turn on again. I always freak out thinking it broke because sometimes i have to take the battery out multiple times.... I'm wondering if the metal contacts need to be pulled out a bit more thinking they aren't touching the battery enough.

I have the Futrua DNA30. Using a 10 amp AW is only good to 3.9 volts before it can't power the DNA30 at full power. Using the Sony VTC4 and Efest Purple, the batteries last to 3.5 volts when the meter shows empty. Highly recommend either the 30 amp or 35 amp capable batteries when running the DNA30 board, more usable voltage.

I like that it shows it as dead at 3.5. I'd rather err on the side of caution and stop pulling on the battery before it gets anywhere close to ANY kind of problem. Right now I switch em out at 3.6 in my provari, even with the low batt blink (never gets that low for me). I'm a fan of the sony vtc4s myself. Maybe it's me being illogically biased, but it is what it is. I have 2 aw, 2 vtc4 button tops and 2 vtc4 flat tops. All 18650 2000/2100 mah. As for a charger? I'd get one. Xtar, intellicharger i4 and pila work on the vtc4. Personal experience with a cheaper tenergy charger tells me that the sonys don't like them (also read the intellicharger i2 has problems but I can't personally confirm this).

Ok so last night i got 2 new sony vtc5 2600 and charged them. I vape for about 30 min and it stopped working, so I checked the battery and it was at 4.1v. So I got mad at that point because I knew that something was wrong. I took the hana apart and fired it while I wiggled the wires and it started working again so I pulled off some of the hot gun glue off the board to check the solder and it just started working after that? The main battery wires to the board look like my six year old solderd them but the rest look good. The battery indicator is going down now and I am actually still using the same battery on the first charge! Now I am a happy camper its actually working like I thought it should! I am not sure what fixed it but I will keep my fingers crossed that it keeps working. Thanks for all of your guys help!
