I've just finished reading an article claiming that e-cigarettes are just as addictive as tobacco.

Article mentioned a new study published in the journal tobacco Control. The study finds that e-cigarettes, as well as low-tar “light” cigarettes, are just as addictive and habit-forming due to a common additive known as pyrazine, which appears to be in the sweet tasting flavoring.

If I understand this right, Pyrazine increases the pleasure of smoking by making e-liquid taste and smell better and less harsh.

What I find weird is that on none of the e-liquids I use (and I do use sweet tasting ones such as Muffin Man, etc.) I find this ingredient specific called out. It's always:

- 80% VG
- 20 % PG
- Natural & Artificial Flavoring

I think companies who make these e-liquids need to be really clear as to what type of natural and artificial flavoring is being added into what we vape.

Is it just me thinking that we should have more transparency?

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly, however, when I see something like: Natural and Artificial Flavoring on a label I immediately feel like I am not getting entire story.
It also doesn't make sense to say 80% VG/20% PG (I saw percentage specifically called out on some of my liquids, not all). Some say 80/20 or 50/50 without adding % symbol.
In that case, what is the content of Natural and Artificial Flavoring? It cannot be 0%, right :)

I do fully support complete contents listed on labels of ejuice. Just like other labels with the highest level ingredients listed first and then the rest listed in decreasing order. No percentages, etc need be listed so no problems with proprietary recipies being given out.
I want to make an informed decision what I buy and use as a consumer. Without information I cannot do that.

If I'm not mistaken most flavorings are PG so they would be part of the 20% in an 80/20.

Well when it comes to food most ingredient labels also just state natural and artificial flavorings with no specifics. So I would have to reluctantly disagree with complete transparency with ingredients strictly from a business/recipe point of view. I would love it just as much as the next guy for all ejuice to come with all their ingredients exposed on their labels but I just don't see that happening even if they don't give exact percentages much less listing them from highest to lowest portions. Especially how easy it is to make and obtain the ingredients it would kill their business.

The same can be said for sugar in food and drinks.

Did you know Prego tomato sauce has more sugar in it than a Krispy Creme donut?

Big Food has gotten just as bad as Big Tobacco.

If you want to take care of yourself, you have to be able to read labels to understand what you are putting into your body.

Yeah but it would be nice to at least have information on artificial sweetners and such.
I agree, and if a questionable chemical is present, like diacetyl or acetoin, I think these things should be disclosed.

Now I do however agree with this but it won't work. Why you ask? Well most ejuice companies will just include "may contain diacetyl or acetoin" on all their labels just to cover all their bases from a legal standpoint. You wouldn't know whether or not it contains any at all.
