umm trips? it doesn't even look like the base is properly meeting the glass.. I have 5 tanks I look after between me and hubby and not a leak. I stand corrected.. less than five mins after I typed that, hubby broke my brand new replacement glass for one of the tanks I use *sigh* hence the murphy quote lol.

I didn't mention wicking because I thought I remembered you saying it leaks even with the disposable coils but those pics you just posted look like there is not nearly enough wicking in there. This would definitely cause it to leak. Here is some pics of my wicking. I leave it sit for a couple days sometimes and not a drop leaks.

Anyhow good luck, it really sucks to hear. STM is one of my favourite tanks ever. Ol' reliable.
Originally I started with the stm because of the rba....I loved building coils, but after a while I just couldn't get my wicking to work right, so I gave up frustrated. At the time, I was dealing with a lot of stress in my life, close family members passing away.....so my wicking wasn't up to snuff, which led me to go back to analogs for a while. The first couple of months were great with the rba base, and my wicking and coils lasted me a good 3-4 weeks using 100% VG juice. Anyway, a buddy of mine got a pack of these ceramic coils, and gave them to me to try. I LOVE these ceramic coils!!! Not great with thinner juices, but I've got this coil still going after a month running at 37-42 watts depending on juice flavor. I loved rebuilding, and have tons of wire/cotton, so maybe I should try out the rba deck and see what happens. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't remember having all these leaking issues when I used the rba. Maybe it's time......I have a couple of the newer rba decks, I guess it's time to research the best wicking methods for it again. I can whip up a good coil wrap in no time.....I stick with single spaced coils around 0.7-0.9 ohms, and have 28 and 30 gauge wire. What do you find works best as far as the wicking method? What's the percentage vg/pg juice do you use? Thanks for getting me thinking of going back to rebuilding before I give up again.....

What do you mean? Like the glass isn't sitting properly and tight at the base?? I can assure you it is.....for what it's worth, with the white tank and the black o-rings, I can see how it could look that way....but I think it's just the reflection of the glass....there is no gap there at all. I never get leaking there anyway. My biggest problem comes from the af base getting flooded, and juice spilling out the air holes. It's constant blowing it out, checking to make sure it's tight....checking all rings/seals, even checking the itty bitty clear ring at the base of the coil, where it threads to make sure it's there and not damaged.....

I DIY unflavored 90VG/10Distilledwater. Was using 30ga kanthal and now 30ga SS 316L. 2.5mm coil 1.2 ohm wicked with rayon. I pull the ends of the unfinished wick up like bunny ears and slid the rba sleeve down to the base. Then trim just above the sleeve and shove the remainder down into the space and against the hole. IF it gurgles I can always pinch a piece of rayon and poke it in. If dry I can pull some out the hole, cut it off and shove the rest back in.

RBA mini plus with the large holes in the sleeve.

What do you use for wicking material?

Either way how I do it is wick the coil and then thin the ends enough to stick each end in the RBA holes. Then pull the wick through until the RBA top is seated on the base. I make sure to fluff up the contact areas on the coil after the base is fully seated as they tend to get pushed down a bit. Snip off the ends from the holes and vape away.

Thanks for the details....I never had issues with dry hits ever, I think my wicking issues lied in using not enough cotton...my head got caught up in the fear of having too much, and then having to deal with dry hits and breaking things down again. I'm actually looking forward to trying these newer rba's because the larger holes might be the ticket.....I've heard of people wicking these in crazy ways....straight thru the juice holes, thru coil and out the other side cut flush to barrel...and also heard of people doing this same thing, but placing a bit of cotton on the deck first (just the floor of deck, not thru coil) to help keep the chamber from flooding.....I dunno, lots of different ways to wick now that the deck is different.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I'll try the plumbers tape idea....I have a little roll leftover from a sink job.....Thanks for the idea! These replacement o-ring I purchased are genuine, came with Auth card....but I feel like they are either too thin, or not thick enough. I just don't get it. I compared them side by side to the ones that came with my tank, and they were exactly the same all around....so I dunno. Once this juice is used up, I'll break it down again, and try the tape after a fresh clean.

I feel the same way about those replacement O Rings , seems to fit fine but the glass does not slip over it as snugly as it should be imo.

You have to stop that seepage though to stop the thing from leaking .

of course I am now currently down a tank... because someone decided to use some large pliers on my new replacement glass, after he tightened my top filling tank too much, while removing the old chipped one.. and no that wasn't me! i'm warning him not to use the pliers on the glass... CRACK!...

me "hun you tightened the top too much, I can't unscrew it to fill the tank!"
him "here, i'll undo it... wait the glass keeps spinning now"
me "use a damp cloth"
him "no i'll just use these"... crack!...
me "what was that crack?!"
him "what crack... oh..."
me "you broke the new glass didn't you?!"
him "umm did you throw the old one in the garbage like I told you to?"
me " it was on there less than 5 mins! it was 3 hours of driving to get it yesterday..."
the old one was damaged even more taking it off, i'm leery about using it, and having it crack and spill juice in my newly detailed truck. of course if I happen to be driving his brand new truck and it happens I wont feel so bad...
*sigh*

I've got the small holes one and dry hits are a non-issue for me, I also use cotton bacon.
I have some RBA's with the smaller holes and was thinking of picking up some cylindrical files when I plan to use them to widen them. Reading this makes me think I might just try them how they are. Still don't understand why they made the holes smaller though. Was reading that because of the top fill model if the holes were any bigger it would leak, sounds legit.

my theory is, they also get some juice in through where the screw is holding the casing.. since they're the only style that came with the toptank, I made do with what I had... and I did read that entire looooonnnnnggggg subtank rba thread, it had a lot of great build info for the mini rbas. I can buy the older screw on type with the juice vents at the bottom, they are avail here, but since these work fine i'm not bothering.

since some of the bought coils lose the vac and leak through the airvents(seen it with hubby's since he's only now starting to use my rbas) sometimes when he gets below the holes, it makes sense.
