I'm not very familiar with battery chargers honestly, and about a year ago the nitecore i4 was highly recommended so I bought 2 of them. They've worked great without fail.

I see the nitecore d4 is now available, and I think the digital display is pretty cool... but my question is simple here, is it worth upgrading from the nitecore i4 to the nitecore d4?

(Sadly I really don't know what the differences are except the display screen)

charging specs are the same, only other difference other than the readout/display is the construction on the slider assemblies...not a huge difference but it is different. I still use a multimeter through out the day but having it on the charger is a nice feature too. So I guess if your i4's are working well no real "need" to get the d4...

ADDIT: with the i4 i could see clearly from across the room when all three charge level bars were lit up saying the battery was done charging, the digital display is dimmer and not as noticeable so I have to physically check on it every so often.

i can't speak to the i4 because i don't own one but the sliders in the d4 are fantastic- better than the ones on my xtar xp4. on the xtar i've had batteries literally fly across the room if you weren't careful getting them out of the slot-with the d4 they are smooth and you can tell they are high quality. as far as the rest of the d4 i've had no problems and it has charged everything as advertised without a single hiccup. it is a nice 4bay charger and i have no problems recommending it to anybody who needs a 4bay charger.

Ill say this, I have two i4's, they work great.. one of has great slides, the other has 3 good slides (can put battery in 1 handed) and 1 slide requires 2 hands to put the battery in. I like the display on the d4, but the point about seeing the brighter leds on the i4 is valid.... I just suffer from shinyitis.
