I feel your pain
@ceeceeisme , I've been vaping a year now and I my head still spins when considering new devices. (I'm a fellow Canuck btw...hello!)
It can be terribly confusing when first starting down the vaping trail. I agree with many previous suggestions and understand you are on a budget. Me too.
So, from a pretty new vaper and one who does not (yet!)build my own coils, here's my 2 cents...
My first e-cig was an eGo ONE, I bought a second one about 2 weeks after my first purchase. Although I experienced a learning curve with the coils, it got me off the cigs...in about a week. It's easy, "plug and play", no fiddling with wattage/voltage. It's a great "out and about" little device and in my opinion, produces pretty darn good flavour and vapor!
I've been using 2 istick 30W for months and they were an easy step up from my eGo ONES.
I also have a Coolfire IV paired with a Nautilus Mini...I quite like this set-up. The Nauti Mini is touted as being a good MTL tank, although at first, I found it very airy...even on the tightest setting. The Coolfire IV is available with external batteries so that may be something to consider (for future use?).
I've been looking at the Pico lately, it looks pretty great and the reviews have been good.
In a nutshell...something "plug and play", something with variable voltage/wattage and maybe a 3rd; a device with external batteries.
Thing is, vaping is a very personal experience. I completely understand working with a budget makes choices difficult. However, if you get 2 or 3 devices/tanks you'll not only have back-ups, you'll hopefully find what works for *you*.
While waiting for your order to arrive from China (*sigh*)you may want to zip into a nearby vape shop and pick up a simple eGo ONE. Mmm-hmm, Canadian prices are insane!
I wish you the very best of luck. Don't give up! You will find what works for you. Give it a little time.
Cheers!
