Sorry mattiem...it is not your fault at all
...and he is now gone for a while - hopefully he will take the time to read and appreciate the rules that we have in place and understand why they are there.
we'll get it back on track..I'm not going gently into that good night.
I saw them do it to us smokers..slowly restrict and tax the livin' daylights out of us.
but this time around, thanks to those clinicians doing valid studies, CASAA, and my poor reps who have heard from me and will continue to.![]()
Totally not your fault mattiem, someone was looking for a fight.

Mattiem, sorry someone tried to derail your most excellent thread. Not your fault, please don't worry about it.
Hopefully not in this thread. I was one of them for 45+ years and would never say a bad word against them. I just hope they will give this a shot if they want to quit smoking. It is for them that I do what I do.I'm still here for the debate. I say that since Govt squarely put us in the same corner as the tobacco smokers we should not diss them (like I've already seen it done around here).
I truly am sorry that this thread ended up this way.It sure wasn't the way I had hoped it would go.
That's what really makes me angry, all the smokers that won't have the opportunity to quit like we did if the worst comes to pass.Hopefully not in this thread. Someone posted in another thread that MBV is pulling up stakes in WA and moving to AZ because of the lunatic proposals they have going up there. Due to Legislative Pressure, Mt Baker Vapor is Relocating to Arizona - Mt Baker Vapor
That is just wrong in so many ways. I know they fought the good fight before they made this decision. I wonder how far Provape is behind them. That's what really makes me angry, all the smokers that won't have the opportunity to quit like we did if the worst comes to pass.

Thank you YoursTruli. It is a great thread with good conversation and points on both sides that I have been watching from the sidelines, the way some choose to behave is not your fault Mattiem.
My views and personal vaping habits have always been on the conservative/courteous end of the scale. While I agree it is vital to stand up for your rights and fight for what you believe in it is also vital to choose your battles wisely. I think all too often people get so bogged down in the little battles they lose sight of the war.
Yes, so far you are lucky. One of the easiest things we can do at this point is join CASAA , get their alerts and then act on the calls of action. We will know more about what we can do once the deeming regs happen or act if there is another comment period. Right now it seems we are in a waiting period.Ouch. I guess I'm lucky so far in that my state (West Virginia) did not have any bills concerning vape brought up this year. I joined CASAA and only live a short drive from the Capitol, but didn't have a reason to make the drive. Vape got me off the cigs, and has me almost to zero in the nic in 4 months. Some of this legislation being proposed is unbelievable to me. I have a feeling vape will end up in the category we don't talk about, with some states being business friendly and others not. It's a shame. I do keep my fingers crossed the Federal level will not drop the hammer. I'm in the "prepare for the worst, pray for the best" column.

Great post! I've only seen one vapor in the wild. A 20 something with a box mod. He took a couple of steps away from the people at the bus top, turned around, pulled out his mod and took a couple of small puffs with his buck turned to everyone. Almost tempted to run up and hug hum. Smiled and nodded instead. There are polite vapors out there, it's just that no one notices them, lol. But I do hear and agree with what you are saying but also think those paid shills have a lot to do with our current situation also.Yowza! I just wandered back here, and I'm kinda glad I missed the fireworks.
I try to be a considerate vaper. IMHO, the frustration and the negativity towards vaping comes from the inconsiderate folks. When I was a smoker, I sure as heck *HATED* when another smoker blew into my face. I would tip my head up and exhale straight up as often as I could (unless of course, so doing would have caused me to fall off my barstool)
The inconsideration was readily apparent a few months ago, when I attended my first Vape Meet. The venue was NOT well-suited for the number of attendees, and because we were queuing through the hallways of the hotel, they'd asked us a NUMBER of times not to vape until we could get into the convention room. SO MANY people COMPLETELY IGNORED this simple request. In fact one "gentleman" blew a HUGE CLOUD right in the Fire Marshal's face. (I believe he was ticketed and escorted off the premises.)
THIS IS WHY WE GET SUCH A BAD RAP. (At least this is how I see it.)
Vaping as provided *ME* an opportunity to enjoy the same sensations as I did with smoking, BUT WITH WHAT I PERCEIVE to be FAR FEWER HARMFUL INGREDIENTS. Yet, I feel like a pariah - I RARELY see "vapers in the wild" (although I did catch a guy hitting his mod in a grocery store the other day, reading the Sunday papers that were laying out for sale. Heh heh heh)
I would LOVE to be able to go out to eat and enjoy a vape with my after-dinner drink. But, unless something radical happens, I don't see that ever being an option - ESPECIALLY in the State of Indiana.
I actually got a "reply" from one of my State Representatives in response to one of the CASAA calls-to-action, but I think it was a "canned" reply. It's disheartening because this makes me feel like nobody really reads *anything*.
So, I stow away supplies (very likely to be in conflict with the soon-to-be-enacted legislation.) I will continue *MY* path. I *NEED* this alternative to smoking - it's the way my system is wired. I'm an addict in my own way. So be it.
If I can be a positive example for others, that's also the way I'm wired. "Treat others the way in which you want to be treated."
