i've used mouth hits for years(take some puffs, let it sit in your mouth then inhale) i'm assuming most of you do the same.

when i first started using ecigs i smoked them the same way i would a cigarette but lately i've been doing direct lung hits and inhaling the vape directly into my lungs rather than letting it sit in my mouth first. i've noticed the exhale tastes so much better when i use this method.

i'm curious how many of you lung hit? also, is it safe? google has taken me to some threads that say lung hitting 'could' be bad for your throat.

I smoked cigarettes for over 20 years and have been vapeing for only 3 months. I took what you call lung hits for over 20 years. I lung hit now. I have tried the mouth hits and just do not like it. As far as lung hits being bad for me, so be it. I lung hit cigs, this can't be much worse and if it is. It figures, just can't win...LOL.

There was a poll done on this here. Here's the page. Out of 85 people, it was pretty much split 50/50.

I smoked and started vaping doing mouth hits. I started lung hitting when I got into higher power vaping. It is not bad for your throat. In my experience when people say something 'could' be bad for you they don't by definition know enough about it to know that it is bad. They suspect it may be.

My mother suspects that my sports car could be bad for me. I'll just leave it at that ;)

I do both, lol. I will do mouth hits if I am using a regulated device (most of the time), but if I am using a dripper on my mechs, I tend to lung hit. Not sure why I do it, but the cutoff for me is at about 20 Watts. Below 20 I mouth hit and above 20 I tend to lung hit. My guess for the reason I do it that way is the way I set up airflow on my sub-ohm setups. So much air has to flow over the coils that a mouth hit doesn't really have enough volume related to the time needed for me to have a satisfying vape. I do like both setups and I really feel both methods are valid in high or low wattage setups, but this is my preference.

I love both, but what I do depends on a combination of atomizer and juice. Anything with menthol in it I prefer a mouth hit, or any bottom fed genesis, for me, is a mouth hit device. A more complex flavor I think I'd use mouth hits (some you can taste before you inhale, and it can taste different from the exhale).

But I've had reduced strength Pluid in my Kayfun, and I could not get a decent flavor from it (which is bizarre given the combo; I think I got a bad batch of Pluid), until I opened up the screw and started taking lung hits. Now it's wonderful!

I think if I had to choose one though, I'd choose mouth hits. I just like the feeling more.

I have to agree with this. Mouth hits remind me of smoking my pipes. That was always really relaxing to me, especially out on the porch in the summer when a big thunderstorm was off in the distance at night.
