Hey again guys got another noob question. I'm sure this has been discussed here before so im sorry if this is an old topic but this forum is huge and I could be searching all night. Ok I think im getting alot of the basic ecig lingo down but the confusing part for me that I dont fully understand is the whole volts and ohms thing with batteries and how they play together and what works best with what and yada yada yada. Like for instance, ok I have a 1.6 ohm double punched boge carto single coil that came with my Boge F-16 tank and its currently on my ego twist 1000 mah battery and ive been running it on 4.0 volts and everything seems to be fine but whats the best voltage to use on that carto??? Can I go up to the max 4.8? Should I go lower? Does it matter? Like I mean does something with lower ohms require lower volts or does lower ohms mean to go higher in volts? Also, the Resistance thing, (low res, High res, standard res) how does that come into play? Not sure what that means. There are so many different types of cartos out there and seeing that I like using my tank alot im going to need to buy extra cartos in the future so I want to get what works best. Being new to vaping (10 days now) this is my first time using a carto so I dont have any experience with anything else to make any comparisions of my own. Ofcourse I can buy the same 1.6 ohm cartos over and over again thru the place I got my tank which would be fine because I havent had any issues with performance but is there something better to use with my ego twist? Would a higher ohm carto be better or even necessary? What about using double coils in my case? I could skip the headace I guess and just stick with what I have i'm just trying to expand my knowledge on this stuff. Please help I'm so confused!

Stick with the 1.5 carts as I think they give a better vape and hit. The 2.0 work fine but I like the lower resistance. I use a vision spinner 1300 mah and run it at different volts depending on the juice. Some juice with higher VG ratios vape better at hight volts than juice with higher PG ratios. THere is a science to it but I tend to stick with what has worked for me. If your looking to make a hobby out of this then you need to get a little more technical I suppose.

Hahaha, ok, sorry not laughing at you. I just remember having the same questions.

Basically it all boils down to ohms law (V^2/R=W).

But short answer is you're one step ahead of the game with a Twist. Just set it to what you like and vape away.

Now that being said, especially with freshly charged battery, try not to exceed 8 Watts. You could potentially pop the coil. You can find Watts by multiplying the voltage your at by it self (or squaring it) and then dividing that number by the resistance of your carto. Generally speaking the sweat spot is somewhere between 6 and 8 Watts.

Don't freak out about the equation. A Watt is a measure of electrical power; so basically we are talking about how much power your driving your coil with or how hot it's getting. You can even download and ohm's law app for your phone, makes it supper simple.

Now take all these calculations with a gain of salt; they are purely theoretical. The dial on a eGo Twist is not 100% accurate and to boot as the battery gets towards the tail end of the charge the voltage will drop. If you're not where you need to be crank it up a bit.

I'm vaping a 1.6 ohm coil on a Twist set to ~ 3.8v right now and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Now I have heard some rumblings about and Twist not being able to drive a double coil much past... think is was ~4v. like you set it to 4.5 but it will only deliver some lower val. I don't run a double coils on my eGo's so sorry I can't be too much help there.

That's pretty much it, not everything but that should get you pointed in the right direction.

I regularly vape in the 10-12 watt range (have gone as high as 24 watts too) and have never popped a coil. 6-8 watts is too cold of a vape for my liking.

BTW, check the resistance of your cartos or whatever you're using. Just because it says they're 1.6 ohm doesn't mean that's what they actually measure. I won't run anything without doing that first. I've had 1.7 ohm cartos measure as low as 1.2 ohms and have had 2.4 Vivi Nova heads that are at 3.0 ohms. I'm currently using a 2.4 ohm head on my VN and my Provari and ohm meter show it being 2.8 ohms.

Just a Provari with a Vivi Nova. I've been at this for years and have found I like a hotter vape and more throat hit.

I'm at 9.65w at the moment since this juice (gummy bear and fruit stripe gum at 50/50 pg/vg with some menthol added) doesn't seem to like it much higher.

I just turned it down to 4.4v (6.9w) and it just doesn't do it for me.

The chart is the way to go but a basic rule of thumb that I use is to add 2 to the oms to get the volts. It's not exact but, for instance, a lr atty like your 1.6 I'd vape at around 3.6 to 4 volts. Any higher and I find I get dry hits because it burns the juice faster than it can wick up. 2 ohms I vape at 4 to 4.4 volts. That's what works for me as I don't carry the chart around in my wallet. Hope this helps.

I think they should ban the ohms law. LOL I always hated math. That's why I got an app on phone to do it for me.

I just ordered a Smoktek DCT carto tank. I did get some single coil 2.0 Ω carto's for it. What is it you don't like about the dual coil?

just try different voltages. on my boge sr cartos i usually go between 4.2 to 4.8 on my twist. just depends on taste and throat hit..just feel em out. i really dont like the dual coils.. just my opinion iguess

If they banned Ohm's Law we wouldn't be vaping! :toast:

They tried to ban everything else I enjoy. Didn't work. America is a country of freedom thanks to those who gave the ultimate price. Some arn't good at math and I'm one of those. That's why I use the calculator. All they do is keep putting taxes on it.
And thanks and welcome home to all the VETS on this holiday for them. Shake their hand. Welcome them home.. Say thank you. Ok I've rambled enough. Sorry.
