I will definitely try rebuilding some of his coils! Should I be doing this with a brand new stock coil? Or a burnt out one? What's the difference between the mesh, nano coil, etc? So many different types!
I just rewick the new coil with cotton before I use it then rebuild the used ones. I've used 28ga kanthal but have trouble getting the ohms high enough in the allowable space and find that 30ga works better.

You sound like the perfect girlfriend. You know all those PG/VG stuff, resistance etc more than me, and all that for your boyfriend. I would love to ask you out, too bad im married.
Thanks. Is the coil acting as an inductor? It's not a solenoid or a transformer correct? I could be completely wrong. Are you using a general multimeter to check?

Don't know if someone already mentioned this or not, but to the OP: If you feel like this is something your boyfriend is going to stick with, at some point you should look into just getting an RBA. Having used the Protank 2 and RBAs like a Kayfun, Russian 91%, etc the difference in quality between the two (taste, vapor production, tank size, etc) is substantial...and if you're going to the trouble to rebuild PT2 coils, I have to imagine it's easier on an atty that's made for rebuildable coils.
