Yeah, I have a K4 that I use with TC with a silver spring. While it can vary a bit on resistance, going from .2 to the point where it jumps out of temp control (1 ohm) is horrendous. Something drastically wrong there.

My Cthulhu with Ti coils has jumped out of TC on a few occasions so far. I didn't really think much of it, but it was NOT caused by loose coils or improper build. My Cthulhus are very solid and stable.

It happened once at work, but I didn't realize it for quite a while. I just kept vaping and eventually looked at the screen and realized that it was in VW mode for some reason.

It happened another time after a fresh build..... I assumed it was because I didn't have the resistance locked and the coils were "breaking in". Maybe some slight resistance changed caused it to jump out.

The third time was an experiment with dry burning gunked Ti coils in TC. I had the cotton removed and the temp to 420. Pulsed it a few times and one of the coils started glowing and immediately oxidized (trashed). I looked at the screen to see why that would have happened, and the eVic had jumped out of TC.

So it is definitely possible. However, I haven't watched pbusardo's vid yet.

One thing on the phil video...

At around 51:15, the 'just for fun' graph shows the VT doing the worst on temperature accuracy vs. the rDNA-40 and the SX mini. However that's using Nickel. Using Titanium, the VT does better - in fact, a graph showing the rDNA-40, SX mini and the VT would look almost opposite of the 51:15 graph - see the composite graph at 49:49. Just wondering why he didn't 'just for fun' do a Ti temp accuracy graph as well, and then, say, one overall combining Ni and Ti for 'temp accuracy'.

Even though the coil in my stm was fine, I decided to rebuild it as an experiment. The evic now likes the stm again.
A thought... Since the evic will fire down to .15 in VW mode.....the dropping of of TC might be a good reason to build lower....it won't fire my .07 coil in VW :p

Even though I really like the sub tanks, I've noticed that every issue I have had has been on one. I put my kayfun lite on there, it was rock solid. I need to find a tank that performs like a sub tank, but with a build deck like the kayfun, then maybe my issues will disappear.

I just can't believe Gearbest is charging $125 for this...I got mine for $75 from Vaportekusa and hardly shopped around at all.

Anyway, the think I dont like about this device is that sometimes it takes multiple tries to get into the "menu" for me. I was trying to lock my resistance and by the time I got it to register the three clicks correctly, my resistance on the nickel coil went from .1 to .15. grrrrr.

it also has not jumped out of TC on me, which is good, but I think Phil is on to something with the temps being off. According to his chart, it is reasonable to assume that by the time you get to 600F, it is about 100F less. Which would explain why I am vaping at 550-580F with no problem. :)

The new Aspire Triton looks interesting.

Got my VT just a few days ago. Don't understand why would the minimum wattage to be 30W? I found it always overheat on my derringer. And the vape is too hot.
I didnt receive mine yet but this min 30W is bothering me, didnt have that restriction in Vapor Flask DNA40 clone and it was quite nice.

What temp (C/F) did you get 'really' hot? And what happens if you bring down the temperature way-down, is still too hot?

400F is hot as compared to my vapor flask cone. Tried with 380F but it keeps reaching temperature protection. At that no vapor you will get. I'm now trying to do a longer pull and avoid turtle puffing.
I guess it's because of the minimum of 30W, it reaches the temperature almost instantly, like a second or so. To have a cooler vape, need release the fire button sooner. Further, consumption of Juice is at a faster pace.

A lot of getting used to is required.

Well, mine just died. How long has this been out? 3 weeks? I think I may have used it a handful of times and not even consistently, as I have numerous mods. A friend and I were dripping at work this morning on it, then I popped my Starre tank on, took 2 vapes and shut off. It won't turn back on and plugging it in doesn't work either. Funny, earlier in the thread I had said I trust Joyetech's quality control more than others out there and BOOM!

Gearbest has the eVic VT 60W on sale now for $57 and change. With a coupon, it's 54 bucks shipped. Gearbest says they have the units in stock.

I ordered one two days ago, but cancelled the order yesterday. So many reports of problems with these early production run eVics make want to cool my jets.

I'm happy for people who are digging their temp control setups. Still, temp control is in its infancy, and it seems likely that big changes in the chip technology may be coming. I have a Dovpo TC-50 on order from fasttech---$35 seems like a cheap way to check out TC. On the other hand, perhaps the opposite strategy is better, to go the full route and pop for an SX Mini M Class. I don't know, I might cancel my fasttech order too and just stay on the sidelines watching the parade for awhile.

Im sure its fine.

It's probably detecting a short. Did you remove the atty?

The keyword was... I put this atty on it and its dead..

Hmm. I was kinda debating picking one of these up but now I think I'll wait awhile to see how they hold up first. I don't need it anyway.

Has anyone taken it apart to see how easy it is to get to and swap batteries? Simple solder job I take it?

Yes but imo it would be unnessesary in any circumstance. You'd be taking an awesome battery out and putting a less awesome battery in.

The guy in the aforementioned video a few pages back about the batteries has no idea what he's talking about .

If it had two 18650 imr I would not buy it! On top of that he says the istick has imr which it doesn't it also has lipos.

Or to be completely accurate they are probably a lithium- ion- polymer hybrid. A safer lipo type battery.

It is made for higher power vapers.

There are ways to reduce the heat up time at 30w. The same ways as kanthal I'm sure.. Use a lower gauge build with more wire. A thicker mass of wire will take longer to bring to temprature. Try 24g
