I recently stopped by a local vape shop. Not knowing exactly what to expect from the place since I'd always purchased my goods online, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the experience. Even though it is not required by local or state law, they checked IDs at the door. Absolutely no one under the age of 18 allowed. The place was squeaky clean, bustling with patrons, adequately staffed, and all products were clearly and non offensively labelled. These business owners were not playing around. They have opened 3 metro area shops since July of last year, and I can absolutely see why they are successful in a city where just opening one location could be a huge financial risk. I was also surprised to see that they were prominently advertising CASAA and had a jar for donations, and clearly stated when they'd be sending in their next donation along with their goal amount. I didn't need a darn thing they had for sale, but I wanted to support that kind of business, so I bought some stuff anyway.
It was such a far cry from one ECF approved vendor that I used to patronize (but no longer do) because that vendor used their minor child in their advertising campaign FOR E-CIGS!!!. When I raised the issue that such an advertisement was out of line and harmful to all vapers, I was told to 'lighten up and get a sense of humor'. Sure, and if we all do that, vaping won't be around for much longer. Sometimes this industry just makes me shake my head.
