Hello and welcome back for another review. Today I will be taking a look at the Innokin Coolfire Z80 NEX kit that was sent to me by Innokin in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Coolfire Z80 NEX mod has a maximum output of 80 watts and is adjustable in .5 watt increments. It has a simple yet informative interface and is made of zinc alloy with a leather like back. The adjustment buttons are on the side instead of front which is a little different design than I’ve seen from Innokin before and has a physical lock switch. The kit includes the Zenith Nex tank which can be used for both MTL and RDL. The NEX tank has a liquid capacity of 5ml and makes use of the Innokin Z coils that we all know and love. Kudos to Innokin for sticking with the Z coils instead of coming out with a new line of coils.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:
As usual, Innokin has done a nice job with the packaging on this kit. On the white front of the box is the Innokin name at the top with a blue background, The Coolfire Z80 NEX name in black and a nice color picture of the device contained inside. The back of the box has the usual list of contents, manufacturer information, and authenticity code.
Once opened, the Z80 mod is visible with the tank sitting above it in the same white foam insert. There is a pull tab on the top edge of the foam insert which can be pulled to expose the spare glass and an envelope containing the spare .3 ohm coil, drip tip, charge cable, user manual, and tank accessories.
The left side of the Coolfire has the Innokin name stamped into the metal frame. The right side of the Coolfire has the + and – buttons which is different from anything I’ve seen from Innokin. I personally am glad that they didn’t go with the fire bar like they have used on several of their mods. The leather like wrap on the back of the mod has raised letters indicating the Z80 NEX model name.
The front of the mod has the round slightly protruding fire button on top. Below that is the display screen which shows a W for wattage mode, battery level indicator, set wattage, length of time of current puff, coil resistance, puff counter, and output voltage while firing. So the display gives you what I would consider all of the basic needed information. Below the display is a manual lock switch. When the switch is moved then the display shows either a lock or unlock symbol on the display. This switch completely locks the entire device from firing or being adjusted. The button/menu operation is as follows.
The Coolfire uses a single 18650 battery to deliver the maximum output of 80 watts. The battery is loaded through the bottom of the mod via a threaded battery cap with a flip up lever to assist in keeping a grip on the cap. There are four battery venting holes in the cap which is a good safety feature. The battery polarity is marked inside the opening with a large red + symbol on a white background. No confusion there on how to load the battery.
