I agree with Vapn. Now that I got used to it, it's actually a lot easier to not over-drip and flood the atty without the tube. I have also come to prefer using the VM without the tube. The only time the tube actually helps out is when the liquid starts getting very low in the bottle... Like vapn said, it's easier to gauge the amount of liquid going into the VM without the tube since the liquid has to travel a shorter distance to reach the atty.
Regarding your question about atties, the standard 510 you got from SuperT has about the same resistance as your Magma atty except David's atties are manufactured by Joye. Joye 510 atties are much better than the Magma atties IMO. The Magma atty has that washer in the bottom sorrounding the bridge just like DSE 901 atties and I don't like it for dripping. This is assuming that Volcano has not made any changes in the past few months. It provides a nice flavor but lacks in the TH departments. The Joye LR 510 has a lower resistance and will produce more vapor and provide greater TH but will also use a little more juice.
