Actually, no... Not sure where I got that "X" idea, but I'm not finding *anything* like that, which tells me, if creative coil builders can't do it, it probably can't be done. Then again, it appears that that damn near everybody has gone completely gaga bonkers for dual coils. These are the only 2 clear images I could find for single-coil builds on the Magma...

That first one looks tortured; I like the 2nd one better. But I might still try to mount a coil diagonally relative to the posts, if I get one of these, just to ease the positioning of the legs going into the posts.

Oh, darn it... I liked the sound of the diagonal one! Take photos if you end up doing it! I agree, not liking the looks of the first one. I'm not into the dual-coil thing right now either, and the deep juice wells on this RDA seem perfect for me too. Thanks, OP, for starting this thread! I was thinking of starting a similar one myself and now I don't need to.

I am really enjoying the Tugboat V2, actually more than the Magma. 2 posts with multiple air holes that can go to one air hole which is what I use as I prefer single coil builds. A 1ohm coil at 14 watts is a dream for me at the moment.

I like that, although I'd be using 29ga, to arrive at approx. 1.8Ω -- looks like about 8 wraps? What diameter is that coil? That's about the number of wraps I prefer, but I can't take lower ohms; too much vapor, and drains the battery too fast.

This one is 7 wraps around a 2mm diameter screwdriver. I can get roughly a full day from a battery charge (goes down to about 3.6 or 3.7V). (I prefer 3-4 second draws)
I find 8 wraps with 22AWG heats up too slowly for me.

I think that when I get a decent regulated device (IPV3) I will go for slightly higher resistance builds, but with a Mech mod the above coil is in my 'Goldilocks zone'. I think I would need a coil of over 3ohms to get the same coil-wick contact area using 29AWG.

I do find that with a Magma the flavour can sometimes be too much and that my taste buds quickly become overwhelmed, I have recently taken to diluting the e-liquids with some VG to stop this happening. It also helps to eke out the expensive juices and prolong my enjoyment of them.

Nevermind. It's a 6/7 wrap. So a 6 wrap with the legs continued back around until they face the same direction.

i might still get a magma, id like to try and build a vertical coil one just to see how well i do first, ahah! im sure its not too tough. hopefully i'll get the zenith soon!

The Plume Veil, Mephisto, Zenith V2, Magma all have built in Single Coil modes and are also wonderful flavor RDA's.

Sure, they have 3 posts (except for the Magma), but they are really great single coil RDA's by design.
On my IPV2 I run the Mephisto and Plume in single mode and it's really very lovely.

2 posts - center air hole - 1 excellent coil is all you need for Achilles

HOWEVER, if you feel you need dual coils - then here you go - nice space between the 2 posts

i got the zenith, its great!!! it doesnt have the 3 airflow holes like i was hoping, but i could cut it in the afc ring. or the cap, whatever. i shoved a little cotton in the other hole, no muss no fuss. i also ordered the little boy so im excited to see how that performs for me. i might even get the achilles too.
