Your brain will let you know when to vape. If you drop the nic level you might find yourself vaping more often to get the same amount of nic. It takes a while to stabilize your nic level and vaping frequency. Higher nic levels will reduce your frequency, but you still have to exercise some restraint. If it's in your pocket you might find yourself vaping more often and consuming more nic per day.
After ten years vaping, I'm still wanting to vape like I smoked. There were restrictions on smoking at work and I had to go outside. Once I retired and started to vape I learned how to vape discretely in stores and other places. It's easy to vape more than you smoked just because you can do it in MTL mode without creating a scene, FWIW. I've vaped in stores and restaurants and never once has anyone told me I couldn't vape in their establishment except once in a Texas Roadhouse restaurant.
