How many times should I vape per day and for how long?

I smoked around 20 cigarettes today and have just purchased a 16mg high strength cartridge for a basic e cig.

Couple of questions.

- How many pulls on the e-cig would constitute smoking an analogue cigarette? Do I need to vape more?
- Is anyone aware of any disposable e cigs with zero nicotine and funky flavours? Starting on the high strength but keen to reduce it.
- Are there any side effects from just using nicotine free cartridges?
- What brand of vaper would you recommend for maximum vape?

Thanks

Rob

You'll get a lot more advice, but here's a few points!
No particular order...

"Maximum Vape" - that is an ENDLESS PURSUIT. vaping, for many folks, is a HOBBY. You can spend thousands of dollars, you can make your own heating coils, you can increase your battery power as high as you want - it's really a matter of finding something you LIKE...and that's different for everybody. I WOULD recommend stepping up to something better than the batteries shaped like cigarettes. Look at least for an "Ego" with variable voltage, and a "clearomizer" like an "EVOD" or MiniProTank. That would be more likely to provide a satisfying vape... Or maybe google the little box called the MVP 2 from Innokin - another powerful but small and easy device.

Strength - if it's really 16 mg, that's not really very high. I was smoking more than you, but I started with 24 mg...

How much? - If you're trying to quit cigarettes, my personal advice is "vape as much as you want" - if you get too much nicotine, you'll know! You'd get dizzy or feel nausea. Never happened to me... Later, after you've decided you're happy vaping and cigarettes smell and taste disgusting (that took about 2 weeks for me), then you can lower your nicotine...

Juice - if you get a refillable like I suggested, then juice options - flavors and strength - are ENDLESS, and part of the fun!

Good luck!

You don't vape like you would smoke, even with those little cigarette shaped devices. Take a few drags whenever you feel the need for a cigarette, then put it down (a plastic ashtray works well for this- I made some out of modelling clay).

Long, slow drags work best. Forget puffing like a cigarette- it's not.

The manner of nicotine absorption with an e-cigarette is very different from using an analog cigarette, so there's no way to directly compare. With an e-cig it's more akin to the nicotine absorption manner you'd get with a pipe or cigar (assuming you don't inhale either of them).

Inhaling down to your toenails, as you would with an analog cigarette, is actually counterproductive. All of the nicotine absorption with e-cigs happens in your mouth, nasal passages and maybe a little way down your throat. I just take the vapor down to about my larynx. For extra flavor, exhale through your nostrils.

FireDragon1138 is right: vape until you don't need any more, and long, slow drags work best.

First welcome to the club from sunny London, first it depends on which analogs you used to smoke, B&H would equate to 18mg but if you liked something stronger then you need to go up to 24mg.

I only gave up 12 days ago [20-25/day for 53 years] but find having 2 or three vape puffs then leaving it for 30' usually is enough for me.

As some one else has said you would be better off going for something with a bit more punch batterywise, it'll cost more but worth it in the long run, have a look at iTaste Coolfire 1 you will also need an IMR 18350 battery & charger. This will allow you to buy liquids in 10ml bottles and fill the tank up, giving you more time between changes of liquid, which can be got in most nic levels right down to zero, if and when you decide to go for that.

Taste is a personal thing, the ones I have found so far that I like best are Banana Shake & Green Apple from Vapable, and Coffee & Mocca from eJuiceBox (the cheapest).

Side Effects: there are a few normally as a reaction to too much nic, such as diarrhoea, stomach ache.
just search here for info, that's how I found out a lot of info, UKV is also another place to look for guidance, and entering "ecig" into google will bring up lots of places to buy all the stuff you will want - just don't let it run away with you

If you have been smoking 20 cigarettes a day and suddenly switch to nicotine free cartridges the side effects will be the same as nicotine withdrawl. It would be physically more comfortable to to cut down in steps over several months.

As for how many pulls from an e cig does it take to equal a tobacco cigarette. According to the latest research a 20mg/ml eliquid provides less than one-third of the nicotine delivered by one tobacco cigarette.

A letter sent by scientists to the European Union

The scientists that did the research wrote and sent this letter in an effort to stop the European Union from passing regulations banning using higher than 20mg nicotine levels in eliquid, because heavy smokers need so much more than that to make the switch over to vaping.

You may discover that 16mg isn't going to be strong enough in the beginning to keep you comfortable, but you could easily step down to that later. Even 24mg wasn't high enough for me in the beginning.

As for brands, my favorite is Halo eliguid and I also like some of the Jonhson Creek Smoke juice flavors.

Depends how to use it. If you want to get the most out of a single puff, I usually hold it in the mouth for a few seconds, inhale, then blow it out through your nose. You get absorption most through the mouth and nose (as I've heard). Don't think of it as the equivalent of an analog, you'll have a harder time quitting. Just vape until don't want to anymore. It'll make stopping analogs much easier. It could take longer or shorter. That's kind of the idea though. If you just want a quick fix to stave off the cravings, take a puff and put it down. You'll figure it out.

- Is anyone aware of any disposable e cigs with zero nicotine and funky flavours? Starting on the high strength but keen to reduce it. You could always try getting just disposable tanks or cartomizers. You can fill them, but not clean them really. It's probably cheaper in the long run not to use disposables though. I wouldn't recommend corner store type e-cigarettes. Or juice. If you have a local vendor for e-cig stuff, try out their liquids in store.

Not sure, others will know for sure.

I would start with an ego twist. It's fairly cheap, and adjustable voltage, and a decent battery life. Eventually upgrade to whatever you want. I mean, you could start with the most expensive stuff, but it's better to learn about them first and use a cheaper e-cig in the mean time. You'll have a greater appreciation for the money and time you spend on them.

I started with 32 mg./ml. at first, simply because I had smoked three packs per day for 47 years. I'm now down to 16 mg./ml. That's comfortable for me now. For grins, I've tried to go lower, but at 12 mg./ml., I get uncomfortable.

Your mileage may vary . . .

If i were you i would IMMEDIATELY start learning about the different refillable devices available and start using those...these store bought disposable or rechargeable ecigs like blu, fin, njoy are sooo much more expensive and they have weak batteries and I just hate em

You can get a variable voltage starter kit from madvapes for 15 bucks, you can get an mvp2 starter kit for 40-50 bucks, you can get the refillable ejuice from a myriad of different vendors...you can even mix your own juice easily

Now as far as straight up quitting I would vape as much and as long and as often as you want...don't worry about nicotine intake or any of that hoopla just get to the point we got to where we dont even care two bits about regular cigs...we just love our vapes....

Then after you have divorced yourself from regular cigs completely you can start experimenting with lower nic juices...more of the flavor fun as opposed to the nicotine....no matter what you want to do or what your goal is there is an option for you

Whoa.... steady boy.... steady :)

Welcome :)

I actually don't know where to start.

engage brain - engage calculator - self destruct -

1. On a 16mg cig-a-like e-cig, you're going to need to puff... (jeez, this going to be tough....)
.
.
.
.
about 36-45 times to match a normal cigarette. (that's the nicotine, not the puffs...)

2. Yes! There is a company out there that will happily take you money and not cry.

Alternatively, you can buy an eGo ecig and fill it with zero nic juice (fruit or shisha style)

3. Side effects? Not likely to be much different to vaping nicotine.... minimal.

4. A good ecig. :) preferably with Variable power and high VG liquid.

I'm going for a lie down now after the maths on the first question....

Seriously? Something's not right and it could be with the amount in the liquid that gets into your body. I was a pack a day smoker of Camel Platinums [Silvers in the UK] and they had .4mg of nicotine/cigarette which equaled 8mg/pack. I started with 12mg and tried to switch down to 6mg and found it kind of hard so something wasn't quite right there.

Is there any info on how much nicotine from juice gets into you vs. from cigarettes?

Eric
