But be careful with doses for sure, you might pass out and wake up wondering what happened.

My thoughts exactly. Make sure you are not allergic to the herb too! This is important. A way that I heard of this being done is to scratch your arm somewhere (almost to bleeding) and rub the herb into it. If it swells up, most likely you are allergic to it. I am not sure if that is true, but it is something I picked up somewhere.

Man, vaporizers (electronic cigarettes) is going to open a whole can of whoop ... on the police and what is legal and what is not.

Chemistry is fun. :)

*NOTE FOR EXPERIMENT 2*
Much better than one, but it tends to burn faster (makes sense, sense there is more alcohol evaporating from the heat; means your carts don't last as long but at the price it costs you to make this does it really matter?)

has anyone tried vaping kava kava?

That is a really interesting idea, but I doubt it would work, at least with Kava powder, and unless I grow it myself, I cannot get the root to soak. The powder (as you probably know) settles very quickly (parting itself from the water). Straining out this powder would also take out the kavalactones. A tincture could work well, but I doubt it would be possible to "vape" it.

On the other hand, if you have the fresh root, I am sure that you could probably just soak that in alcohol for a while and then make it as suggested below. That would be cool if it worked.

Another thought on that too is the concentrate will still be very weak, considering that you are only using a few drops of half and half. If it were possible, I doubt you would be able to obtain enough kavalactones to see many affects.

Thank you for the great suggestion Fredrick. I am sure my atomizer will love me for it. Breaking down 45% of the ethanol must be tough on it, but it does not seem to get too hot, so that is good.

No problem. I had actually just read the post about the not even a day earlier. I miss working with herbs and alkaloids. I have to call one of my old friends and dig up some old recipes and stories. he will definaely get a kick out of this, and maybe even get involved, seeing as how he quit smoking cold turkey 2 months ago. Keep up the good work.

Nice. This is great fun. I got swine flu and have not been up for any vaping for the last few days, but I am on the mend now and will continue to play with stuff when I feel a bit better. You should get your friend involved. It is very interesting concepts.

Something strange that I have found is that I do not even want to vape when I am sick, just as if I was sick and did not want to smoke (when I was a cigarette person). I think it could be something to do with the act of inhaling something in your lungs when your lungs are not running at full capacity anyways. Who knows....

Just thought I'd bump this thread to see how the experiments are going. I'm thinking about buying some herbs and tinctures to try. I'm looking for something to help with anxiety and sleep issues.

I have an order I'm getting ready to place through Mountain Rose Herbs. I was wondering if anyone has purchased from them. I got the link from an earlier post in this thread.

Also, could any of the herbalists give me input on what I am ordering? I plan to try vaping with the tinctures and glycerites and smoking or making tea with the leaves/flowers. Here is my tentative list:
CodeProductInventoryQuantityPrice/Ea.Total

8oz Red Poppy Flowers organic

4oz Lotus Flower petals

1oz Oats Glycerite

1oz Hawthorn Glycerite

1oz Valerian Glycerite

1oz Passionflower extract

1oz Chamomile extract

1oz Skullcap/Oats extract

1oz Kava Kava/California Poppy extract

Thanks!:)

this is an interesting idea... when i was at the smoking everywhere booth they had certain flavor cartridges that had certain vitamins in it already which got me wondering on how they did it... like grape had vitamin C, and they had a multivitamin one as well...

i'm sure vitamin C in ejuice would create more of an upper - ever taken Emergen-C?

i'm sure it would take a lot of vaping to get any sort of a dose of vitamins form an ecig... but hey a little vitamins is better than no vitamins i'm sure...

anyone know how to get vitamins in there? i haven't really looked but i wonder if there is liquid forms of differant things... like b12 or C, etc...

btw a long time ago my buddy was ALL ABOUT kava kava... he had a liquid form of it that i'm sure is still available somewhere...

I have lots. Chamomile is on the list. I have about 50 or so herbs to play with, so I will update you on how some of them go. It could be interesting to get a mild high just by vaping the e-cigarette! :)

EDIT: Blue Lotus (which taste good as a smoke, but tastes bad as a tincture, so I will have to cover that taste up), Damiana will taste good, Pink Lotus will be interesting, and many others. Even a hops one would be cool.

I have glycerin, but I find PG much better on the atomizers so tomorrow I am going to the store to get some PG.
Dude, you have to market this. I will buy it.
Thanks

I am new to vaping and would like to use herbs in my e-juice, but I am allergic to alcohol. Does anyone know where I can get some of the herbal e-juices with no alcohol in them? Or where I could get herbal tinctures with a glycerine base instead of alcohol?

Thank you
Colleen

Take the time to read the thread. I didn't read the whole thing, but just from the first page I found this site that has glycerin base: Herbal Glycerite Tinctures from Mountain Rose Herbs

I also read about someone evaporating the alcohol in boiling water to convert it to a water base. Good luck.

Hope I wasn't out of line resurrecting a long-dormant thread like this, but the Lung Juice offerings have started to interest me, and this was one of the top posts on the search.

I've read several places that a tincture is most commonly made with ethyl alcohol, but other solvents (PG being one mentioned) could be used as the base. Has anybody tried to mix up a tincture using only the herbs and PG by itself and bypassing the alcohol entirely?
