Batteries are probably junk. Toss them. Open your mod as much as you can and try to let as much water out as possible. When you get no more drips, completely cover with rice, uncooked, of course. Leave it for several days. It's worked with cellphones, let's hope it works with your mod.
Actually, mooch has said getting batteries briefly submerged is not an issue.
They are sealed but be aware the battery case could rust under the wrap.

I think Mooch also recommended putting the mod in front of a fan till dry, instead of the rice or silica gel. Battery case open, of course.

The mod: Disassemble it as much as you can and stick it in front of a fan for probably about a week to be on the safe side.
The batteries: Being that they cost less than $10 each, I personally think it's pointless to try to save them since there is the potential of a unsafe situation, even if it's a small chance.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I let it dry for hours and the mod is working.
I wish to replace the batteries with new ones but idk.. even battery prices are a burden to me atm with my financial situation..
of course injury or damage to surroundings will be way more costly but it’s working for now..
