A kid who works at the local vapor lounge is raving on about the Glas mod, how it's got a sapphire button, and how it's all sorts of awesome and wonderful, and he even claimed that it puts the Poldiac to shame. Not something I cared to hear from some kid after buying three Poldiacs from MMV, and he doesn't even have one, or a Poldiac either, so what does he know? But okay I took a look at their webpage, and they do appear to be serious about their design and engineering, as well as their pricing. So does anyone have one of these, and what do you think of it?

It's an exceptional mech at a very high price...supply is extremely limited with a very long wait list last I checked. Folks were selling them second hand at a markup the last time I looked. Whether it puts the Poldiac to shame is entirely subjective in my opinion. Personally I prefer the Glas, but I don't think it is demonstrably a better mod, I just happen to like its looks more. I wouldn't sweat what someone else thinks; your Poldiacs are fantastic mechs as well.

Well I seriously doubt it will approach the distribution or reputation of the Poldiac. It looks like they were trying to appeal to a very exclusive corner of vaping with the Glas, and that's fine, however, it's a bottom button mech and in that kind of device I'm looking for certain practical things, like can I set it down with a battery in it and an atty on it without it firing? How smooth is the button? Can I get spare parts?

Personally my preference has always been for top/side button mechs and my Greek mechs provide all I could want in that way. I don't care how much it costs or that it has a sapphire button, it has to work as well as my Poldiacs and it's rather hard for me to imagine anything working better, but I can easily imagine something costing a lot more for the sake of things like sapphire buttons and super fancy logos on the device. It may well have the best engineered bottom button there is, but I won't be able to get my hands on one to check it out any time soon.

It also looks like a recessed bottom button, and that's something I'm not interested in at all.

Beautiful device... Not my style. It needs to be babied. I want a device that I can shove in my pocket, leave in my vape cup, expose to the crazy Texas heat and laughs. All the while at the end of the day looks minimalist and classy. If you want a high end device, for that kind of coin I would be looking into the exotic woods infused with dyed epoxy.

Looks, class, and performance do not require that kind of coin. Your two Kraken Poldiac set ups look amazing. I don't care for the Ming Vase drip tips, Those things are begging for an exotic wood tip that follows the Kraken lines.

Woods

I had two custom tips made from this dude. Amazing work. I Sent him a drip tip, and he did one 1:1 and one with his own spin. A little Pricey for a drip tip, but it's hand made, exotic wood with a SS inner sleeve.

Another plus is they do not heat up or collect that lip gunk stuff.

The Glas mechs are nice, but in IMHO are tasteless. Akin to the middle management dude driving a BMW. A car dude, or in the aspects of vaping, Mech dude (in your case Madam) would have better taste. Its not the crazy mod made from Silver like that Caravela. And its not the mod you would want to use. To accompany you throughout the day. To beat up. Where every dent, scratch, bit of tarnish, has been a labor of love. Whose sole purpose is to give you that satisfaction you know only it can.

My two babies... I have others, but they all pale in comparison.

How do you like your 4nine? The b&m by my house has an authentic I've been looking at. How is the switch?
Is that other mod a praxis by any chance?
Other than its toughness, ti isn't that great of a conductor even compared to stainless steel. I agree with it being... flat. The smpl has more character, IMO.

I have owned both a Glas Signature Series, and a Poldiac but am a diehard fan of a different mod company so I believe I'm able to be completely unbiased in my opinion of the two.

The Glas is gorgeous, but likewise so is the Poldiac. They are, aesthetically, two of the favorite mods I've owned. The machining on the Glas is a bit superior and the button is downright incredible but that's a "to each, their own" kind of thing to me.

Performance is where I found the biggest difference. On the two devices, I used (pretty consistently) a Tugboat v2 with a Pour Boy Customs comp cap. My go-to builds are either 20g Royal Wires, dual 5 wrap continuous on a 9/64 drill bit, which ohms out to around.08, give or take, and 22g Royal Wires, continuous dual parallel, 5 wraps on a 9/64 drill bit, which ohms out to around the same.08 or very slightly lower, with a faster ramp time.

That said, the Poldiac absolutely cannot handle those builds. It doesn't even hot button, it hot mods. The entire tube is on fire and I can't even take a decent four second rip. Before anyone suggests cleanliness of the mod as the reason, I can assure you that my mods are kept meticulously clean.

The Glass handled any build I threw at it. Flat out, hands down, anything. Now, that's not to say that it was hitting as hard as a legit competition mod, but it handled the builds and gave me a very satisfying vape. The lowest build I ever threw at it was an 18g Hotwires, continuous 5 wrap on a 9/64 that came out to .06 ohms, and still no hot button issues.

Neither mod was/is a competition mod but I did love them for what they were, beautiful pieces of art.

I still own the Poldiac, though it gets as minimal use as you can imagine. I've tried to sell it many times but it's never garnered any real interest. The Glas, I traded for a Shock and Awe from Avid Lyfe and have never regretted it, though I do believe I will reacquire a Glas again. Once I sell the Poldiac, I doubt I will ever consider getting another.

So that's my way too long of a comparison between the two.

Those are some Seriously Low Ohms.

Be Careful.
