I have jury duty Monday and I have no idea what to do with my egos. I REALLY don't want to leave them in the car, not only because I don't like leaving it in a hot car because it might damage the batteries, but also because the idea of going without them all day is... not appealing.

So question, does/has anyone taken their ecig through security ie at the airport, courthouse, etc? Surely someone here taken one on a plane. Does it set off the detector? If you put it in the little dish what do the cops say? I'm worried because I have clear cartos and they obviously contain juice and these no bottles with liquid rules are freaking me out.

Any help or experience with this is sincerely appreciated.

I've taken mine to the DMV and courthouse plenty of times. I got asked once about what it was, and I mentioned electronic cigarette. Security called another officer over, I demonstrated in the lobby, and they let me through but said not to use it in the courtroom.

You'll be fine. As mentioned earlier, maybe take it apart. They won't go digging for it.

I've never had a problem taking them through the courthouse. Never even got a second look, and I go at least once a month to make payments on a traffic ticket. I just make sure to put them in the scan tray, and not on my person. That way it doesn't look like you're trying to hide anything. I do, however, use a 510 model.

I've taken my Chucks (see picture to the left) on numerous airplanes without any issue, I just put them in the tray.
The TSA is very familiar with electronic cigarettes, and doesn't give them a second thought.

I have also taken my Chucks into the Courthouse when called for jury duty.
Again, I put it in the tray and didn't even get a second look.

I have yet to hear of anyone having an issue with either airline our courthouse security.

Check out this subforum for more information on airline security...

I actually went to a government building last week. I use a Volt and kept it in my pocket. It did not set the metal detector off at all! If it was an airport, I would definitely put it in the tray, but with a "simple" government building, I don't think it matters. If you are really worried, just put it in the tray and keep going. I wouldn't say anything unless they asked.

I'd treat it like I do an airport screening. I don't take anything through it would really bother me to lose. So, my Reo and Buzz go in checked luggage. Put it in the basket for metal and tell them what it is, if they ask. I've never been asked at an airport. Not sure about a courthouse but, I'd say the same principal applies.

I took mine to the courthouse not too long ago and also to the passport office a few times. It was funny the last time through the passport office they wanted to look at something in my coat which I put through the xray. So I figured it was my pv and pulled it out but they could have cared less. It turns out they asked if I had keys. I was a little confused and said of course and showed them my keys and was on my way.

Honestly, has anyone tried to take an e-cig ANYWHERE and been denied entry with it? I've carried one everywhere I've gone for over a year and a half and NEVER had anyone react negatively to it. Airports, Federal office buildings, state office buildings, the local city hall and courthouse on many occasions. I've never had a security person even ask what it was. My steel Riva looks like a very expensive ink pen. If you carry a box mod or other mod that looks like a flashlight, good luck.

I can't say I have but, in some airports you have to take off your belt in others you don't. Sometimes they want everything out of your pockets. Sometimes they just want metal. I'm afraid it's going to be sometimes PVs or okay sometimes they aren't. So, I'm not taking anything through security, I really don't want to lose.

There are hundreds of cases of people taking their PVs through airport security.
I haven't heard of anyone ever having an issue.

I have done so at least 10 times, including international flights, with no problem whatsoever.
Whoever has a problem trying to do so, they will be the first as far as I know.

From what I hear, electronic cigarette use is pretty popular with the TSA because they can't get outside to smoke.

I had Jury Duty last year and had absolutely zero problems with security at the Courthouse. The baliff inquired of the other members of the jury if they had any problem with vaping in the jury room and there was none. Since there were other smokers in the group, I did not flaunt my freedom from cigarettes; However, they were all wanting to know more. You may well have the opportunity to convert a few!

What the? How bad was the ticket(s)?

I used to take my Volcano Inferno into prison every day when I worked there, went through the metal detectors which never went of on it, but went off on everything else. Would have been a big no no, had they caught me with it, but everyone inside knew I used it and was cool with it. Just wouldn't have been fun if an inmate had found it lying around which I never did.

However in the hospital, my manager keeps throwing a big stink about it, even when I do it in the back area where we chart. It "gives the impression that you are smoking". Hospital even created a policy against it because of one of the patients using one. To top it off, I have had one person gripe about it, because "It makes me sick to my stomach", though she is a smoker. I think it boils down to, she is ...... off because she has to go outside, even though I have made multiple attempts to hook her up with a set.

And I use a provari.

Excuse my grammar, I am tired.
