Hello, I am curious as to the legality of "e-cigs" concerning minors. As far as I can tell, there's nothing illegal to these as they are just vaporizers and if I got nicotine-free cartridges I wouldn't be breaking any laws. I'm sure this is an age-old question here, but how safe is water vapor to inhale? I'm just a 16 year old "techie" and I think these look really neat and would give me something to do instead of nervously tapping on my desk and chewing my pens.

As far as I know you are right. E-cigs at the moment have no "legal" age restrictions. But honestly, this is a conversation you should be having with your parents. Not a bunch of strangers on a forum.
E-CIGS are never sold to minors -- you must be 18+ to purchase E-cigs -- It would be in your best interest to never consider this or any tobacco product for that matter -- even without nicotine stay away in my opinion

I'm going to add to the negative replies. Please don't get started on this. No addiction is healthy or smart. Even without nicotine, the habit easily becomes an addiction. Most of us are doing this because we hope its a life saving alternative to smoking - not because its cool.
I was under the impression even 0mg nic juice still has trace amounts of nicotine in it. Kinda like non alcoholic beer.
AVOID IT! keep chewing your pens! even if you got a 0 nic liquid it could tempt you in to "checking out" the liquid with nicotine and the next thing you know you got a 10 year habit that you cant seem to kick. its not worth it.
I think it's a bad idea, it will start the hand to mouth habit (you may already have with the pen, but it's different) and then the feeling of vapor in your throat and mouth... don't do it. You'll quickly find out that this forum does not condone PVs for non-smokers, that is NOT what it is used for.
I would seriously rather chew on pens or sunflower seeds than be tied to this ball and chain. Come to think of it bubble gum would be a 100 times better than these
Why would ANYONE want to start inhaling something into their lungs as opposed to chewing on pens or taping on their desk. It is NOT merely water vapor, it is PG at minimum that you would be inhaling and nobody knows exactly how safe or unsafe the vaporized PG, flavoring and electronic atomizer element are for ANYONE TO INHALE INTO THEIR LUNGS.
The e-cig is NOT for minors and NOT for non-smokers. Smokers only HOPE and suspect it is a safer alternative to smoking.
Be proud of yourself for not smoking and continue to use good common sense and DO NOT start intentionally inhaling ANY foreign substances into your lungs. Ask yourself why it is not a good idea to smoke and apply that to e-cigs as well.
Bottom line, is that e-cigs are forbidden to be sold to and/or used by minors and non-smokers regardless of any current laws or lack there of.
Do you need the government to be your nanny or can you apply your own common sense? If manufacturer / suppliers do not need a nanny or any laws to impose this restriction, I have hope for you that you do not need a law to force you to continue to use good common sense.

Actually, only Suffolk County, NY is considering making it illegal to sell ecigs to minors. All other sellers may do so at their discretion. They SHOULD ask for proof of age and not sell to minors, but they're not legally required to do so. Moreover, most vendors will only sell ecigs to people who have been smoking for a long time (otherwise the risk of redline-ing is too great).

I do agree with everybody on the fact that you are a minor and should be talking to your parents about this.
What i do not agree with is people here frouning upon adults that want to try this product out even if they were none smokers before, i dont think that anyone should criticize me for the choices i make if these are not affecting anybody else in a negative way.

They frown upon that too because nobody wants you to become addicted to something like this just for fun. Like somebody above me said, we smokers are just HOPING that this is a better alternative, it seems like it is... but you never know. There is also negative views on PVs because they believe they will attract kids and people who didn't smoke in the first place.. and this thread is showing just that... people discouraging you and this kid are just trying to help you out in the long run, that is all!
Anything that adults do attracts kids that is just the nature of kids, but that is just KIDS,it is the parents responsibility to talk to they're kids and supervise them properly

Sadly, parents don't supervise their children. Children can be savvy, clever, and delinquent. Many break the rules just to post on this forum and others. Many walk into grocery stores and attempt to buy analogs and beer.
If an adult wants to try vaping, I say great! At least it's not an analog. If vaping leads to a later addiction to ......, it was his choice to make.
Kids, on the other hand, are there to be frowned upon by adults for a large number of reasons. That's what we do. They get over it.
