Went to a local B&M yesterday and they sold me some “expired” juice (at full price mind you). I’m relatively new to buying e juice so it’s a flavor I’ve never tried before, but the first thing I noticed is it’s just sort of bland and weirdly.. spicy? (it’s called “naked 100 Cuban blend”, the expiration was on 06/20, didn’t realized it was an old batch til I got it home). Certainly doesn’t taste much like a tobacco, the smell is somewhat reminiscent I guess. Not having tried it before, I’m not sure if that’s just how this particular juice is or the flavor has actually gone off. The color is somewhat dark, but I imagine that’s to be expected in a tobacco flavor (I’ve had other tobacco flavors in the past that were lighter in color but it was from a different brand). Should I call them or bring it back and see if I can get it exchanged for something else? I mean it vapes ok but idk?

My local shop had a basket of expired juice that they sold off really cheap. I got several that were OK and one that was too horrible to vape. I guess some go off and some don't.
I don't think the expiration date means much. It's unlikely that they have any logical reason for putting a specific date on a specific juice.
If you bought it not knowing it was expired you have a good case to ask for a replacement. Personally I wouldn't bother unless it tasted bad enough that I couldn't vape it.

It probably won't hurt you or kill you, but out of principle I'd personally be paying them a last visit.

It can be a good thing and it can be a bad thing. Some flavors get better with age and others get ether worse or simply fade away.
Thankfully I'm able to mix my own juice and do so in small batches so I'm always vaping something fresh.

It can. I've had store-bought juices that went bad in less than a year. They turned really dark and smelled bad. Those went down the drain. I've also got other juices that seem to be close to immortal; I've had them for many years and they still look and smell just fine. I'd vape them if I was in the mood for them.
My supposition is that the shelf-life of juice depends on what kind of flavorings are in it. Some don't mind sitting around, others do and it's quite difficult to predict which ones are which.
Well if it’s nearly a year and a half past the expiration, can’t imagine how long it’s been sitting in the shelf, probably 2 or 3 years? (No idea what the expiration usually is on a new bottle)
Yeah idk but I think this juice is past its prime, thought maybe I would try a new coil and cotton (used new wick when I first tried it to begin with), no flavor at all. Think I might take it back and see what they say I guess.
@Floah - IMO, if they recommended and/or selected it for me and didn't mention the expiration date was 6/2020...I'd take it back. However, if it was on a shelf or display with other regularly priced eliquids and you chose it yourself, but didn't check the date before buying it...I'd chalk it up to being my own fault for not noticing the date.

Historically, it was usually either one or two years from the date it was made, but this was set rather arbitrarily, with no attention paid to how a particular juice fares with age.
It was on the shelf behind the counter, I didn’t even think to check the date on it when they handed it to me.
I think it's a good idea. At the very least, they should give you a fresh bottle of the same eliquid or offer a refund/store credit. Since you are not familiar with the flavor, you have no way of knowing if it's gone bad or just was bad to begin with.
Having said that, I agree with previous posters that nobody knows for sure how long commercial eliquids last. As we speak, I'm vaping a juice whose best by date is 01-21. It's perfectly fine. Totally my fault, not the vendor's--I bought it a long time ago and completely forgot that I had it.

I have no clue. I used to buy my eliquids from a few trusted vendors and never got an old/expired/past-its-prime bottle.
So I brought it back, my luck of course they wouldn’t offer me any sort of compensation (not sure if it’s a legal thing or they’re just being ......). Guy behind the counter that sold it to me seemed unaware, was nice enough and actually contacted the boss and still wouldn’t exchange it, so apparently they know they’re selling expired juices (at full price, they could at least put them on clearance).

I’d probably rather buy online anyway as it’s a bit of a drive into town, though there is like 5 other vape shops in the area (the one I bought the juice from isn’t a dedicated vape shop but also a head shop). I’ve bought from vapor authority in the past (seemed a bit on the pricy side), is ejiuce.deals good? Idk there’s so many if you just google it, more than I want to sift through lol.

Lesson learned. Make sure you ask them to look at the bottle before you hand over the moolah. If they refuse then walk away...no sale.

If you bought with a credit or debit card, I personally would dispute the charge just out of spite. Even if they win the dispute, they still get charged $15-50 for a dispute administration fee and a ding on their merchant account history.

Yep I’m a noob it didn’t even occur to me to check it in the store. I’ve never vaped this before but it has pretty much no flavor with the same setup I’ve always used
You can always see if they have an online presence like Yelp and leave a negative review as well.

Usually I would never bother to do that type of thing, but I did leave them a review on google. Lol
