how often do threads about wheezing and coughing get started here. must be a few a week at a min
Doesn't surprise me in the least. Keep in mind that many new vapers that post here are longtime smokers wanting or hoping to quit. Years of smoking generally results in lung disorders that have symptoms of coughing or wheezing.

Many new vapers are confused on why smoking didn't cause them to cough or wheeze, but history and experience shows that vapor is of a different composition than smoke is, and is the body's natural reaction to a new substance (vapor).

Agree, they show up, they are a one or two day member, and then seek what is essentially medical advice. I don't understand but will leave it to our medical experts.

my local shop wont return or swap it even if it is still sealed

p.s. how often do threads about wheezing and coughing get started here. must be a few a week at a min

You know they really should rethink that policy. I mean, we know they will just throw it away and not try to resell it, BUT for pennies on the dollar they could be gaining a long time customer who keeps coming back and continuing to purchase for future use.......sounds to me like more of a winner than being a complete jack ... about it.
Having worked in a vape shop, I have to disagree. Too many customers would take advantage of that policy. Selling e-liquids is the top moneymaker of any vape shop. Most shops are struggling to survive as it is.

Our shop had a prominent display on the e-liquid shelf and on the register: "No returns or refunds on our liquids. No exceptions."

You come here to an internet forum looking for advice. There are most likely no physicians here and, if there were, they would not likely dispense medical advice on here. Since you have an inhaler you probably have a physician treating you for your asthma. Why don't you go see your physician rather than seeking the advice of people who may stay at a Holiday Inn but have little to no medical expertise?

So, the Doctor will advise on how to use an e-cig?

Yeah, we're not doctors here, but the first thing I would try is to go to a pg dominate juice. I'd suggest 70pg/30vg. High %vg juice causes me shortness of breathe and that works for me, doesn't mean you have the same problem, but it's a start to figuring it out. Good luck

If your breathing becomes a serious problem, don't hesitate to see your doctor. Thought I'd better throw that in there.:)

My best advice is to become informed, about vaping, and vaping with whatever breathing condition you have. Vaping is fairly easy but does take some research. Smoking is simple just flick your bic and inhale. I don't know many vapers who use the same setup or the same e liquid 6 months after they first start. Just remember everytime you vape is one less drag of a cigarette. Get informed and I wish you the best of luck.

They could at least do a new vaper program, give you a week to try it out. Because it’s on them if they fail to sell the appropriate gear. And you’re right, they are alienating potential new patrons.
The first b&m I went to immediately pointed me to an ego kit, not even a name brand, but some clone. Why? Because I said I was new, and I was 50. They judged and assumed and I wasted $50.

Another shop I use, those guys will walk you through every set up, explain things. I always leave there happy ( if broke)

Go see your doctor. Get everything checked out. Make sure you have everything set up including a good "rescue" plan that may or may not include a nebulizer. It's not unheard of with asthma or COPD for high VG juices to cause problems. The reasons for that... I have no idea.

I will say, I wouldn't (personally) as someone with an asthmatic son continue to vape and play around with different juices without your doctor's BLESSING and a REALLY GOOD RESCUE PLAN. Asthma can be deadly, as can COPD if it has progressed far enough.

IF your doc says okay to vaping and gives you a rescue plan, I would start over with a small, MTL tank, and use a much higher PG level (it's one of the ingredients that makes up vaping).

IF you get your doctor's blessing and a GOOD rescue plan, then come back, ask us a LOT of questions about a good setup, a good juice (I'm sorry, but what you have now won't get refunded because you happen to have asthma, it doesn't work that way) and THEN PROCEED once you are INFORMED TOTALLY about vaping and liquids that may play well with your health condition.

I don't want to do that now, because I'm not .prepared to give you specific advice UNTIL you see your doctor. I don't want to you to be an ACCIDENTAL casualty of getting the wrong ADVICE without an adequate RESCUE plan in place. Sorry, but breathing is quite essential to life. It may well be possible that a few simple adjustments can make vaping easier and more enjoyable.... AFTER you see your doctor for an adequate rescue plan.

I will say, many folks with COPD and/or asthma do fine vaping, and often better than when they were smoking: WITH their doctor's blessing and support and using the RIGHT equipment and the right type of e-liquid.

Welcome.

Not how to but whether to - given his pre-existing medical condition.

Pretty sure the visit with the Doc. would go something like this "stop smoking, don't vape and here is a script for Chantix". The OP is looking for advice on vaping so they can stop SMOKING not medical advice on a pre-existing condition. If vapers didn't discuss their vaping issues we wouldn't have this huge data base to help new vapers weed through their troubles.

If you choose to dispense your medical advice about vaping and asthma and the OP chooses to take it, then I don't propose to stand in the way of either of you.

I work with every kind of doctor there is every day. They could perhaps diagnose something related to VG, PG, or nicotine, but there are too many variables when it comes to flavors. Try changing flavors as well as PG/VG ratio and your atomizer.

My girlfriend and I are sensitive to flavors more than anything else.

If people want to give out advice on how to change without seeing a doctor I don't have an issue with it. Personally, I wouldn't want to, but I had a kid with asthma so I know it can be life threatening.

I would approach my doc with an "I need a rescue plan" more than necessarily "I want to stop vaping." But, I am fortunate in the fact that all my docs want me to vape, and one of mine actually does. That may not be the case with the OP, certainly.

Well I wouldn’t call that bad advice at all. If she has her inhalers and other medications and is continuing to vape as seems to be the case then advice on changing things up a little shouldn’t cause too much harm. There is a risk of allergic reaction or asthma exacerbation with all sorts of things people encounter daily, and effectively quitting cigs while joining a great community is worth a little risk to me. You have to live life sometimes.
