Can your head rebuild cause flooding?

I had this happen when I rebuilt my protank heads on my first try. I did not add enough flavor wicks and the gap was too big. Try adding more wick on top of the coil so there is less space for liquid to get through.

What concerns me is I'm pretty sure this head was untouched... And it's flooding...

About the wick and spacing thing you brought up, can I just sit it on top of the coil like the flavor wick was on the stock head? Like I said I'm pretty sure this one was untouched, which is a bit concerning to me...

Edit - come to think of it I may have removed the flavor wicks, but I know I did not rewick it. I find it strange this is so commonly recommended yet this seems to be a rather unacceptable side effect. Maybe I just needed to remove one? I think there were two originally.... Anybody know what they come with versus what is recommended to be removed? Hmmmm ... Might be on to something...

Only remove flavor wicks if you are getting dry hits.

I am actually surprised that some people say their T3/EVOD/Protank has never flooded or leaked, since the design is prone to it at least every once in a while. This is just because the wick also acts as a constant seal. Due to manufacturing tolerances (big ones from China), you sort of have to adjust on the fly and figure out what works best for that particular head.

I also have a theory that some of the flooding comes from condensation in the center tube, eventually enough builds up that it runs down to the top of the atomizer head and causes the gurgling.

I think the flavor wick removal was what burned me here. Originally I had the wick in the coil and what seemed to be two flavor wicks on top. I removed both as per a suggestion I read from other Protank users. I then put this head aside and began tinkering with other stuff. When I got frustrated with my failed head builds I came back to this guy thinking it was the original untouched head. When the flooding started and I was out of ideas, I posted here. Anyway, lucky me I did not throw out the wicks I removed. I added one of the two wicks back and began vaping. It's been an hour now and it's still going strong with no issues. Before it would begin to gurgle and spew droplets of liquid up the center tube into my mouth during a draw. Sometimes it did it a matter of 4-5 draws into my vape session. I haven't had this happen one time so far. I even let the Vamo/Protank sit on its side and fully cool off, start again, vape with it upside down, right side up, etc. I just can't duplicate the issue I ran into before... so clearly... re-adding 1 of the 2 flavor wicks was enough to bring back the seal I needed.

Oddly enough, in one of the videos I saw about removing the flavor wicks, the user specifically said he was only going to remove 1 of the 2 wicks. He never said why... he just simply said, I'm going to remove one. That's it. Looking back, I should have probably caught on, but eh... we're good now.

ProTank is BOTTOM COIL

Problem is Not enough wicking material to contorl flow. While vaping, you are removing fluid build up through evaporation. When idle it is over saturating and working past the wick. Pop the Post off and add a thickness of rolled cotton and test.

Wow, that's how we treat other forum posters on ECF now?

If you read the post again it's quite obvious he meant when filling the clearo, putting in too much juice could cause flooding.
